Bizzy

This box of thread was my grandmother's. The likelihood of me ever using it is nill. Would this have been for crocheting or embroidery? I really have no clue!

Hi Cheryl,

I sold a box of that thread a while back. Yours is a prettier color than mine, which was plain old ecru. Your box looks better too.

Here's the auction:

Hi Cheryl,

It looks like size 5 cotton crochet thread to me. How big are the balls of thread? Does it say? I'm saying size 5 because I see it says DMC 5. They're very pretty. Something to note is that because of the age, it probably isn't colorfast.

Hey, Lucy, thanks!

Bizzy

53 yards per ball. I just love the color. It's so pink! LOL! Thanks for the colorfast tip! "Please do not use bleach with these threads. I will not be responsible for those who use bleach and end up with a white item". LOL! You almost have to tell them that. I can see 6 months from now someone coming back to me wanting their money back because their item is no longer pink.

Lucy;

I had to look at your auction just so I could find out what color ECRU was

It's a guy thing.

Cheryl,

Does it say anything else on the box? I want to make sure you identify it correctly. In other words, I want to make sure that it is size 5. The size of the thread makes a difference.

It is 5. It says more on the box, but it's in French.

Another thread that sells well on eBay is Cebelia. From what another recent buyer said, it's softer than the other kinds and works up better.

Lucy -- Cebelia is a DMC thread. They are very good and very expensive threads. The colors are absolutely gorgeous! What I like about Cheryl's thread is that it is vintage. The color isn't available any longer. It is a lovely cotton candy (or barbie) pearl pink. That's exactly how I would describe it, too. You should do well with it, Cheryl.

Like Lucy playing with her doily to get it perfect, I, too, need to get a life. I know WAYYYY too much about this stuff for my age!!!

LOL ...

Lucy -- LOL ... I've been sitting here watching my auctions and thinking "Di ... You have WAYYYYYYY tooo much time on your hands!" LOL ... I can remember fussing with a daisy doily to make sure that the petals would stand up to show that it was 3-D! I had a newsflash then ... You ain't gonna make anything if you take all day making it PERFECT!!!

Ahhhh .. Such is the life of an avid ebayer!

No kidding, Diane...

I wonder what I'll be doing come the end of August when I start listing again.
