..i see more and more of these; and so i decided to question this bidder...
..THIS IS HIS EMAIL TO ME
Hi, myoldtoy. I'm interested in picking up a transit, and noticed your item. Please help me decide to go after your transit. Your reserve price seems like it must be fairly high, especially given: ? The condition that you describe this item as being in; ? The $50 "shipping and insurance" charge that you are adding; . And the price on the internet for other transits of this make and model. I am interested in bidding on your item, but at this point would need further info from you to bid. Would you mind clarifying the above?
--------------------------
THIS IS MY REPLY - ONLY REALLY PERTINENT ITEM IS MY LAST QUESTION TO HIM...
-------------------------------
hello: RE: your email>>>>
[["fairly high"...its based on my investment-not what i think someone should be willing to pay for it...that "number" only comes into play once the reserve is met... dont divulge my reserves...]] [["condition" ....its all cosmetic..]]
[["$50" the tripod is 40in..add transit to box, you have a 40 x 21x21 carton..24lbs..Plus the carton, packing materials...call ups for quote- .my zip is 30449.]]
[["others" my transit stands by itself...i tried to be truthful-explicit within the description-images.]]
without trying to come across as "independent" or "arbitrary" in my attitude, i am not a yard sale marketeer...i dont deal in junk; and when it is "less than pristine"[which many/more ebayers expect] i go to great lengths to show/explain the defects...how many times did you see the word "defect" in any other transit auctions...how many have same number images i supply?
-----------------------
i have been on ebay for a few years, and try to operate by my initial statement in the auction...having said that, i am curious why you have never returned any of the very positive feedback to those sellers you have done business with?
just curious.
thank you, myoldtoy
-----------------
PS..this bidder has a plus 10, 100%, and is 14 months' ebayer...never left one not one feedback..[[while protocol says dont publicize bidder, my auction is: 3823078235]]

MyoldToy: I have often wondered about those that dont leave fb. Did they even get the item? Would they buy more of the same? Did they like it? etc., etc.? I think some dont "get" the process, or dont care - and thats certainly their right. But like Tomwillie said its about keeping ralphie in kibbles, but yeah...sure would strike me as odd to see a buyer +10 never ever leave one feedback.

I had a bidder several months ago who had never left anyone feedback. I don't remember his exact feedback number, but I'm sure it was well over 100.

good sunday to all you'll....
Neroter; i too wonder, and this one just caught my attention this morning; so i decided to ask the bidder...no big deal.
ANNNNNNNNNNNNND,
i posted it because i found it just another example of some who probably view we sellers as less than seriously trying to make a living[at least some of us]..but whether we in for livelihood or fun deserve more than nonchalance from the buyers.,,
-------------
i once, in my early days in 1999 asked someone about posting feedback..they quickly informed me "we dont feel it important, of course you can post to us if you wish."
----------------------------
never again...and i, like another poster, will post when bidder does so -always.

it's a hard pill to swallow; but, get over it! I've been told I'm damm lucky -never having been stiffed by a WB on 110 transactions. Besides, Feedback is optional!

FEEDBACK = WHO CARES
Most buyers don't look at it and most sellers are afraid to leave a negative for fear of getting one in return.

My old toy: I dont think its a big deal either. The whole premise of free trading on ebay has alot to do with communicating since youre not in person. I got an email inquiry from somebody asking me if I would take less than I was asking for such n such. I could have ignored it or been insulted or something. But I emailed them back I would think about it, and btw what did they think the fair market price (maybe read retail) of xxxx was going for?

hey again neroter:
i was kinda hoping this thread had gone where it deserved to go...
-----------
every poster on it is correct...no one f/back is really worth the sweat...in 2001, i sold an ice bucket to a professor at uva...he wrote me a glowing email; but never posted f/back...and since i had two of the buckets, i really wanted f/back as a reference; since he was[is] pre-eminent in the category...well, i ran the second one a year later, and it sold for even more... the money tends to soften impact of no f/back..
------------------
what really bothered me about this post is the insinuation that my reserve was too high, or my shipping was too high...this self-serving attitude on the part of many bidders-and there are posts every day-just caught me in the wrong mood; so i ranted; i posted.
--------
in defence of myself...i graphically image defects, i provide microcosms of the item. i am candid, i call a defect a defect..and i am not afraid of the word...all in vain on some auctions-which i also accept - in most instances;; not in this one...
--------------------
every day brings, a learning curve to flatten, i always say...
---------------------
and you said::::
"and they chose not to reply"[[know just what you mean here!!!]]... my transit had 3 bidders, the first was the one that caused this thread...then, the high bidder[item didnt meet reserve] emailed me, asked me to negotiate...i said okay, to his price; and then he replied "he had changed his mind." which was okay,,,just another learning curve...

I know my husband blissfully bought things on ebay for 2 years without ever being aware of the feedback system! It was only when I began selling on eBay that a light bulb went on and we "got" it.
