The story in this weeks AntiqueWeek titled "Pressure from antiques trade halts oppressive California bill". It tells that the bill was shot down 10-3 but that the bill could resurface and should be monitored daily.
Says California legislature adjourns Aug.31 and anything could happen between now and then. Also caution that the bill SB1893 could be hijacked for reintroduction in the senate as a new bill by changing some wording.
They advise the antique trade in California contact their assembly members , state senators, and all members of the state legislature with a blanket email. Also contact Gov. Schwarzennegger [email protected] or the expedited internal link at www.govmail.ca.gov urging him to veto this bill. It can't become law unless the Governor signs it. Stop Bill SB1893.
