Hi All,
Some of you may remember the spoof that I posted for you to see. It had no spelling mistakes and was very convincing. So I copied and pasted the html to a blank web page and linked to it in here so that the Vendio community could be alerted. My original post is here.
[i]That is a good one all right. I think I can trump it though. I just got this in my email and I sent it to spoof@ebay they replied that it was not legit in about 1 hour. I mean actually replied not just the "Thank you for emailing us" But the whole "This did not come from ebay." routine. I copied the html and saved it to my web space so you all could see it. I have not changed anything at all just a copy and paste of the html.

It is a doozy.
Warm Regards,

Well I just received a phone call from my hosting company to tell me that they had been contacted by ebay to complain about the page. Ebay were most concerned by my breach of copyright and they have threatened to take action against my webhost unless the page was removed forthwith.
Considering the only way to see the link was through my original post, it would seem that some lowlife troublemaking scumbag has reported, this incorrectly and out of context, to ebay after reading the post. I will post a page shortly containing the email from ebay to my host.
It is apparent that ebay will not provide adequate warnings to it's users and it actively discourages its sellers from warning each other. The only conclusion is that ebay doesn't mind its users being ripped off.
The aforementioned scumbag will be pleased to note that my well intentioned warnings will herefore cease. It is obvious that they are not wanted.
Regards,
Adrian
PS. I actually thought it was good people here on vendio. WHOOPS! Silly me.
It would seem we have a couple of rats here on Vendio. There are some posters we haven't heard from and one can only wonder what happened to them. IMO, eBay had a lot of nerve contacting your webhost. If it was a problem, they should have contacted you.
Watch what you say, fellow Vendio-ians (LOL, don't know what else to call you), a rat is on the loose.

It's not unusual for eBay employees to browse all the OAI boards. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the circumstance, eBay is very aggressive when protecting their trademark.

Do you mean eBay threatened your ISP because you cut and pasted from an email ebay sent you? If that is what you are saying, ebay is acting totally crazy.

Come on people - we all know that ebay cruises these boards. Hell, the fastest way to get a questionable auction yanked these days is to post a link to it here.
Pelo - no, the item in question is a spoof, not a real eBay email.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?
