Could it be a C? Colenser? See if it looks like the first letter in the author's name, below--looks like Carl but it's too small for me to tell. If that's Carl, and the C is roughly the same as the big letter above, we might have a winner.

The word might be Calendar, too?! If you can post a larger picture of the lower half of that page, I might be able to help a bit with the German.

Toasted, german is so much harder than the other 'foreign' stuff, ugh, not a pleasant research task! Sorry I cant help.
But somebody's husband here speaks it or some other though I cant remember who - if they are around maybe they can provide something!
You know, I'm almost inclined to think it's some kind of specialized calendar, maybe an almanac, for the year 1841.
I couldn't get anywhere Googling for translation of the title but I did find a link for Carl Friedrich Egelmann. The info about him is about 3/4 of the way down the page and the birth and death dates look about right.

You guys and Gals are the Best !! Megan only sent the one picture ...I enlarged it on my computer and took a picture of the bottom part ...so this picture is really bad
Here's another link. Quite a ways down the page is an entry for: Western Patriot and Canton Almanack Ohio Egelmann, Charles Peter Kaufmann & Co. Ohio Canton 1847
Nothing like a good mystery to give me an excuse to typing listings!
Not to mention the sun's WAY over the yardarm. Time for some Two-Buck-Chuck!
Edited to add... I did an eBay search for Western Almanac, completed. There were a few that were written in English. The author was Charles Egelmann. In German that would be Carl.
Editing again... German Almanac search on eBay turns up a few auctions.

Thanks again MsLucy she was tickled to death that we found out it was a calender/almanac . Her e-mail back was "WOW that is awsome... I didn't know all that I guess I kinda got something that I might want to keep. Thank you for that info and I can also scan the inside of the book to show you what is in it if you want me to." I gave her date of birth and death of the guy also.Told her to buy a frame and frame it. It would be a great conversational piece to have hanging in her house.
