Visited Birmingham this weekend and their computer there was infected with a virus or trojan, I'm not sure which, they just had a lot of .exe programs running in the background from msconfig under startup. Like BarginBuddy.exe. Took me all weekend to reinstall everything from scratch and update. So now I know what people are talking about when they say their computer has just gotten slower and slower and won't connect.
Of course I installed SpyBot and Spyware Blaster to keep them from getting back into that trouble.
My computer however has been my laptop not connecting wireless. I was about ready to buy a new wireless card and all, but on a whim, I unistalled my drivers and reinstalled. Now I can connect instantly and stay connected! I don't know what happened but it sure beats having to shell out $100.00!
It has just been getting slower and slower to connect and then wouldn't stay connected. And I could only get connected in one location, where as when we first moved in I could connect anywhere all over the house.

Glassgrl: I remember when I was having trouble with the home wireless network, I found a place in XP help that suggested you uncheck everything in the "msconfig" start up tab and then add things as needed. I did that - in fact, I only added back in my norton's antivirus- and it worked.
I don't know if you are using AOL but I am certain the problem with connectivity is that AOL is forever resetting the location. It goes away if you don't have AOL open at start-up.
