Must be the same idiot that sent me the TKO notice for my US Bank account! I forwarded it to US Bank's security/fraud dept. and SURPRISE, US Bank didn't send the email to me...their fraud dept. responded in less than 15 minutes, however, which is more than I can say for Ebay.

There are such similarities in the spoof emails I get saying they are from Ebay, Paypal and US Bank, one must wonder if Ebay is as secure as it professes. My account with US Bank is ONLY used for Ebay and Paypal.

Jack,
They obviously sent it to you by mistake There is actually an Ebayer with the user name of ebay_user. There's also an ebayuser. They're both in Germany. Maybe we should all forward these emails to them

Does anybody know if these spam emails actually pull information from your computer or do they just rely on you inputing information once you click on the link?

I get a few of those a week and have been tempted to reply and put in bogus information - ie the address of the White House but have not done so yet.

I know i've seen mr. or ms. stonecold say many times before here, something like, 'Yah, go and fill those in with crappo info, like [email protected]', but I have read many times, if you click on the link in those phishy emails, that THAT is what can possibly grab and invade you and grab keystrokes, passwords, etc. ....... so NO ... don't do it. better safe than sorry.

Those links are a perfect invitation for a Trojan virus to make its way onto your computer. This is especially true with the phoney "ask seller a question" where they ask for shipping charges to a particular state for an item you don't have listed. The link to the auction in the email goes to a fake "invalid item" page and deposits a keystroke recording Trojan onto your hard drive. Do not log onto any site that requires a password until you have done a complete scan of your computer and are satisfied that it is clean.
