I know from the news that Frances has been downgraded but still sounds bad. Hoping for the best for all of you still in harm's way!

My knowledge of Florida geography is not very good. I have been expecting an email answer from a buyer in St. Petersburg, Florida for several days. I don't think it is in the direct path but wonder if there are weather related problems there. Can someone who knows the area tell me?

11am Saturday in Tampa. The sun is out with hardly any clouds. The wind is picking up but nothing much. If you buyer is in a mobile home, they will have to evacuate to a shelter or motel as all low lying areas are forced to leave. Looks like the news is saying that the winds and rains will arrive on Sunday morning.

I guess if that is hanging over her my item is not the most important thing on her mind. Think I will just cool it untill all this passes and write her again.

Thanks for the info and keep safe.

Ok, I don't mean to get under anyone's skin, but all this fear about the hurricane is really starting to irritate to me.

I live in the panhandle of Florida and have seen my share of hurricanes. ITS FLORIDA for pete's sake! We have hurricanes! Deal with it!!!

Hurricane Opal taught me a valuable lesson though. It took me 2 years after that disaster to get my life back together. And I finally got the point folks. Stuff is stuff. You can leave it behind and replace it at will. If you have your life, that is the only thing that really matters.

I finally sold what was left of my house ad threw away a lot of waterlogged goodies that I used to think I could not live without. Others are still dealing with mold infestation and painful memories and major depression because they have not reached the point of realizing that the ONLY thing in life that is important is that you HAVE your life.

IT is a painful lesson to learn and I probably look about 15 years older than I really am, but once I got the point, my life turned around and started again.

So here is the point...
When I lived in Texas, we had tornadoes. I prefer the hurricanes to tornadoes, at least I can drive away from a hurricane on any given day, thanks to our great national weather service.

When I lived in California, we had earthquakes. You can't see them coming and unless you live with everything in your house in packing boxes, sooner or later grandma's china is going to get destroyed.

Even my home town in western KY had earthquakes AND tornadoes.

Seems to me where ever you live, you have to make some concessions due to the environment.

IF you are afraid of storms move somewhere else. If you are afraid of earthquakes for pete's sake, move somewhere else. IF you are going to live in tornado alley or hurricane way, then buy the appropriate insurance. If you have belongings that you think you can't live without, keep a safe or vault in the garage.

I have lost almost everything I own twice in my life. Know I know what is really important. The people I love and the people that love me.

Ok, you can go back to watching the Weather Channel and enjoy the storm!

BTW, there is something very invigoration about standing on the beach when the winds are whipping around you at 75 miles a hour and the water level has risen 20 feet. I have yet to leave the area for any hurricane since I moved here. I even sat out Opal at my house. However, when I was in Miami, I did evacuate. The area I was in down there was barely at sea level and after seeing 20 foot high dunes ripped away by 30 foot waves in Opal, I was not going to take any chances in Miami.

Its all the price you pay for living in paradise.

8am on Sunday Morning and the rain is just barely falling. The wind is blowing at 10 mph. Roads are empty and everyone has taken shelter. The winds and rain should arrive in Tampa this afternoon. The TV news is showing the worst of the storm.
