I upgraded twice..once last spring when I thought the "featured" store would give me more exposure..it didn't (there are discussions about this on ebay's "stores" discussion board) do more than highlight mine name in lavendar in a stores' list....

I did it again a week or so ago (to take advantage of the Sept half-price sale) thinking I might use the free key words and the expanded store reports..but after rethinking it and reading the threads about how the featured stores are not featured at all in a search, downgraded again. It seems that in a regular ebay search if no more than 10 items are found , the lowest priced store item is shown first and not the featured store item. Stores listed on the left side of the searches are listed by most number of auctions (not number of store items or store status)

...if you have use for sales manager I guess it would be a deal but I use Vendio and think it's superior to ebay's sales manager in almost every way.

I “tried” to delete this topic as the title didn’t come up correctly, but obviously you knew exactly what I was asking about, and I appreciate your response.

I appreciate hearing about your experience, and since I really have no use for Seller Pro as I use Auction Tamer and have for YEARS, it seems that an Upgrade isn’t worth the cost.

As far as "key words" go, there are a number of FREE sites on the WWW, where "key words," can be checked. Most relate to web sites, but key words, are key words.

Thanks so much!

Thanks for the explanation Neglus.

I had considered a featured store because I thought it would mean better placement on the search pages also.

Until they do that I see no point at all in having a featured one

Not unless you fancy your name in purple! LOL. The omniture store reports are more detailed but I can live without them. From what most people said on the ebay store board, the "key words" money is soon spent..all this for an additional $30 per month?? I don't think so!

I upgraded to a Featured Store about 4 months ago and instantly noticed a surge in my fixed priced store items. I thought that it might have been a fluke, but 4 months later I can say that there has been a noticeable growth in my sales- enough for me to justify the Featured Store upgrade. Now, I've also worked hard on building customer relations over the last several months through emails and special offers (I worked in a retail clothing outlet store for 8 years- never underestimate the power of the mailing list!).

It's sort of hard for me to determine EXACTLY how I'm getting more sales. The detailed traffic reports are very informative, but I still don't know if people are coming in off of searches that feature me in the PURPLE box or if they're coming in through regular searches. I sell rare vinyl and luckily sometimes there are only 2 or 3 other listings on ebay, so my special fixed price items tend to come up in searches. I haven't found the keywords to be worth much at all; they really go FAST! But, I'll say so far, I haven't found that I need to drop to a Basic Store any time soon.

Just another opinion...

Thanks, Playback I know I get store sales when I have no auctions posted, and taking that and others' experiences into consideration, I think my time could be better spent tweaking our various web sites instead of Upgrading our eBay store.

Thanks again!
