Recently my pc has been running slower and slower and pop up screens just keeping on coming/
So i ran 'Spybot, search and destroy' to see what is going on,i found some spyware such as doubleclicks and others which track where i go.I removed them and thought this is the end of my problem.
Well, not so,so i spent 29.99 to run spyhunter and it scanned my files, cookies and memory and found a ton of so called parasites on my pc,some are obvious porn sites and some i have no idea what they are.So i have all of them removed.
But there are 6 of these spywares i keep getting each day when i run spybot, search and destroy, they look like they are tracking where i go for marketing study.
each time i have them removed, they come back the next day.
So AOL said may be someone threw these spywares into my operating system so i cannot remove them.i said what?????????
Then i finally called Compaq and spoke to their technical rep in India and he said it is not possible to slip something into the operating system, and he instructed me to change the MS Configuration not to automatically load any software programs when i boot the system.
So i made the change and my PC runs much faster.
But these half a dozen spyware which track where i go keep showing up,i can remove them but hours later they are back on my pc.
I am beginning to suspect Vendio is the culprit,is it possible every time i click on Vendio site,i get cookied??
I know there are a few sites i visit daily,a few times a day,Vendio is one of them,Ebay,Yahoo and Webmd are others.
I am just wondering if any of you is having the same problems.

spyHUNTER is rouge spyware.

some of these so called great spyware products actually download stuff into your computer so that you will fork out your Ebay $$ to buy their product.

I don't trust anything other than Spybot or AdAware at this time for a totally free program.

Who was it - Sanmar or Tomwiii bought Spysomethingorother at Costco or Sam's. I thought it was one of those rouge programs too but it had good reviews. But he had to buy it.

Spybot has a frequently updated service. Download it and JavaCool Spyware blaster and you'll be fine.

Stop, go into your control panel, click internet settings, privacy. Set your security to at least medium level. Then click on the "advanced" settings and set defaults to "prompt" on third party cookies.

It may drive you nuts for a few days but each time you visit a site, you will get a window telling you when cookies are being loaded to your system that you were not aware of. But using these settings for a while will let you see what sites are loading up your computer with trash.

You can always go back to the control panel and set your settings to default later.

More likely webmd or ebay than Vendio. Do you click on "popup" ads? If so, you are asking for trouble....

answered. Please see my above post.

run spybot. install JavaCool Spyware blaster which runs within Spybot and keeps things from downloading onto your computer.

HijackThis and SWI will answer all of your questions.

Unless SpyBot marks things in RED (that means spyware or adware), yes there will be things that will always be on your computer.

EBAY has Doubleclick software downloading downloading onto your computer unless you have Spyware Blaster!

SW, don't you even have a firewall?

If you don't have a firewall and you're using IE, these things will happen.

I love how the eBay Outlook has morphed into My (or My Cousin's or My Girlfriend's Hairdresser's) Winblows Machine Is Broke, Please Help!

At least glassgirl tried to redirect to the appropriate forum. I give her credit for that.

it looks like i dont have this option in advanced setting-prompt on third party cookies.
glasgl,
i will try to run spybot again and see if that makes any difference.
May be it is coming from ebay-there are 4 ,one is doubleclick ,the others are called advertising something.
thanks to all of you for your help.
Yeah,I may have wasted my hard earned ebay money on Spyhunter??

Dump Outlook.
It's a very very very bad piece of software.
While you are at it, buy an iMac. I have never had any of those problems.
Other problems, well I bought cheap memory off ebay, and it went t#@s up, but otherwise, since 2000 this one little desk appliance has been a very good machine.

Still smokin' after upgrades, too.

Stop,
Did you use the "Immunize" option on Spybot after you got rid of the spyware? If not, check for and download any updates, then run it.

Stopwhining: Does spybot return DSO Exploit entries as the spyware reported? Are those the entries you are talking about that keep showing back up? If so I read somewhere that once removed if it still says it is on your computer, that is in their software glitch within someother software, tea - something or other, and its a false positive alert.
Vendio d/l's a web server cookie tribalfusion . But I think its just a harmless tracking cookie. (could be wrong tho \ ) I dont think you can escape cookies all together even just signing onto your isp.

stopwhining: I have had the same problem that you are describing. I ran spybot, but it wouldn't get rid of them. I went into regedit and searched for the offending files and deleted every instance of them. I had to have task mgr running at the same time, to do the end task and quickly delete before they start up again. It takes a lot of work to get rid of them for good. They keep coming back under different names so you really have to watch for file names that are different.

After I got cleaned up, I dumped IE and am using Mozilla. Haven't had any problems since.

It seems I got all of that crap from ebay, because after viewing a page there is when I started having problems.

Spyware Blaster installs itself inside of SpyBot. On the Immunize page you should also see a blue clickable link that says, "You have JavaCools SpywareBlaster installed. SpywareBlaster will give you much more control on ActiveX protection. Click here to run it."

What does SpywareBlaster do and why should you use it?

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.

Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.

Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.

There are currently 3139 items it is protecting me from in its database on my computer. This does include AvenueA and Doubleclick cookies from downloading onto my computer.

Hello
On Spybot if the spyware is in your Regency file. Spybot will Fix it (only to return).

You must click on the offending puppy and drill down to it's source, AND then remove it. Spybot don't want the responsibility of messing with your Regency file. You need to be careful as well as it could be legit. I tracked one item for a week and finally took the leap of faith and dumped it. No ill effects and no returns.

Regency file?? I'm confused... whatz a Regency file?

PS, Stopwhining, the advanced option is probably an update to Outlook.I had not noticed it until recently.

Interesting thing happened last night.. With my current security settings at medium, I get a pop-up when a site tries to download a 3rd party cookie onto my machine. I opened an Ebay auction that was trying to download something from sparedollar. I said no and it took 3 clicks to make it go away.
