Only if you get caught and only if you have a conscience.

Not really - our post office does not care, all you are doing is robbing a foreign country is a percentage of the value of items that you sell to one of their citizens. There are a few countries that these days some may feel it is our moral duty to deprive of additional income courtesy of our hard work.

I occasionally mark items as gift. I tend to use "Commercial Sample" more frequently though.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

This is the first time for her to use ebay. She just signed up and doesn't know all the rules. Would you go ahead and send it as a gift?

No, why encourage dishonesty?

I think to some foreign countries it doesn't make a difference as many don't charge duty on merchandise but, I bet Canada would get upset if you sent items as a gift. Just speculation but I wouldn't try it.

There are many foreign buyers that have relatives in the US and have merchandise sent to them and then in turn they mail it to their relatives and I am sure it is marked as a gift. That I will do.

What's the cheapest way to ship to Canada? This dollhouse weighs 29 pounds.

I would try DHL. I figure there has got to be a reason that all of my suppliers use them for international shipments. It's unlikely that you are going to find a "cheap" way to get it there,

BTW - I would mark that as a gift, Make sure she knows that most sellers would not grant the same favor but she is going to pay a small fortune in shipping, may as well give her a break somewhere

Makes no differance! It all goes on the dollar value of the item.If this is over $20.00 there is a good chance they will have to pay their taxes on it.

Sometimes they get lucky and it just slides through or they pay. Bottom line is that they should expect to pay. Its up to the buyer to check out their own custom rules, it is not the sellers job to to this.

Other than it is a federal crime, not a problem. There is no way I would ever dream of sending it as a gift. Remember, it's your rear end that you are risking. And you will also find that Canadians will almost always whine to mark it a gift. Then you state that this is a new bidder. Not likely. Sounds like an old veteran that started a new ID. Most likely because they became NARU under another id.

You do what you think is best, but personally if you give in, I think you are a fool.
