I jsut got this email and reported it to eBay and they confirmed that it is a spoof. I can imagine unexperienced users believing it and becoming panicked. Here is the email. The ebay logo didn't copy but everything looks authentic (except the content).


"Upon your request, we will deactivate your account, contact information, billing information, shipping information, and financial information from our active databases. Such information will be deactivated as soon as reasonably possible based on your account activity and in accordance with our deactivation policy and applicable law.

ISP Host: pcp01261671pcs.nhaven01.ct.comcast.net

Due to the deactivation of your account, please be advised you are prohibited from using eBay in any way. This includes the registering of a new account.

I got this one a little while ago.
