Wayyyyyyy after the 115 days, I write PP, Hey! Where is my MONEY or the product back from the BUYER. PP says Sorry Jack...U'r SOL. The BUYER got his money back (We,pay pal gave it back in moments notice with NO bothering to contact you, grabbed it right from your account as payments came in) and he has chosen the KEEP the so called not as described ITEM. PP says you may want to contact the BUYER and ask for your MONEY back, hahahahaha,,,,,,PP says read the seller protection crap! Hello PP, there is NO seller protection!!!!!...Thank you for the not as described enhancement screw all sellers. This e bay and PP thing are turning into a three ring Circus...ONLY ACCEPT PP Payment for the AMOUNT YOU are WILLING to LOSE!!!!! I have NO product and I have NO $50.00!!!!! Eventually I HOPE a Class action Suit WILL be filed against e bays Pay pal.

I keep reading threads about sellers being sc**wed by PP. What is the motivation for you sellers to accept PP? I've sold on eBay for 4+ years, and have been successful without taking PP. I've had one customer complain because I don't take it. Yes, I may have missed some bids, yes, it's more convenient for the buyer and seller when everything works out ok, but how many of you have never gotten the short end of the stick by taking PP?

I whole heartedly agree. Paypal since being purchased by Ebay is not seller friendly any longer. I stopped accepting it after Ebay began the buyer protection plan when my close friends who sell big ticket items were scammed by buyers and for 2 email transaction were charged $10.00 for Paypal mediation. What happens when your product is priced under $10.00 on average. You would be definitely SOL.

Jack, I think that there is a class action suit in existence. Just google it.

Jack!!! Geeze... You runnin' around all hotted up over that exam. No wonder So Cal isn't a fit place to live! Glad I left Sherman Oaks in 1975.

To answer Max, I've been accepting PayPal for about 5 years. Never had a problem, never had a chargeback.

A few times the PayPal notification from eBay has been slow but I check my account when auctions close. I could see the payments had been made so it wasn't an issue.

I miss BillPoint. I now accept PayPal but only e-check (funds in account, in checking account or debit card.) This has been going pretty good (except for a recent 0 feedback newbie who barely nows eBay.)

Even offering this option, most are still paying by money order or check. If people want it bad enough they'll pay for it.

With the internet, word is easily getting around about the "loophole" in PayPals buyer's protection. I surprised there isn't a separate website yet discussing the virtues of scamming sellers using this method.

Like Lucy, I've never had a problem with PayPal--but I don't sell high-end consumer toys, either.

. . . . Jack, what is SOL? Can you say it in polite company?

I had PP for 5 plus years too without a problem. I do state in all my auctions that I accept it at MY option etc. And I have refused to accept it more than once.
I may get burned one day but I'll write it off as a cost of business.
I think you lose more bidders than you know if don't take it. They just move on to the next guy who DOES take it. JMHO

With the changes being made to eBay in January, I've changed the payments I will now accept. One change is no credit cards from PayPal and no electronic checks from PayPal. PayPal balances and direct withdrawal only. I'm tired of worrying every time I send an item out. Just try to pull this crap on Sears or WalMart or any other major chain that has an online store. Isnt' going to happen. Only on eBay.

Hey, Jack, contact Judge Judy or the People's Court. LOL! They both have stated they know more about eBay than they ever wanted to know.

***Coming in January: Item Not Received Process***
Date: 11/17/04 Time: 03:02:14 PM PST

In January 2005, eBay will be launching a new method to help buyers and sellers communicate and resolve disputes when a buyer experiences a problem. The new Item Not Received process will introduce a set of product and policy enhancements that take the mystery out of what to do when the buyer has not received an item or has received an item that is significantly different from what was described in the listing.

Why the Item Not Received Process is Important:
Today, when there is a problem with a transaction, it can often be unclear to both buyers and sellers what steps they can take to reach a successful resolution. This can lead to added frustration and a negative member experience for both transaction partners. The new Item Not Received process will help both buyers and sellers understand what actions to take in the unlikely event that a transaction problem occurs.

Benefits of the new Item Not Received process include:

* Enhanced Buyer-Seller Communication System -- Buyers will be able to initiate a dialogue with sellers from within My eBay. This system is designed to facilitate positive outcomes. At each stage of the process, eBay will provide guidance to both the buyer and the seller, through educational tips and next steps that may help them resolve the problem.
* Consolidated Dispute Console in My eBay -- Buyers and sellers will be able to track and respond to any Item Not Received or Unpaid Item dispute from one location in My eBay.
* Improved Member Education -- New buyers are often unfamiliar with what to expect on eBay. The new process will emphasize education for new buyers at each stage of the process. It will also require that buyers wait at least seven days to initiate a dispute. This will give the buyer time to learn about standard delivery times and other processes related to purchasing items on eBay. In addition, both buyers and sellers will receive resolution tips to improve chances for resolution.
* Shorter Waiting Period -- Buyers who are unable to resolve a dispute with the seller will not have to wait as long to file a claim through the eBay Standard Purchase Protection Program. A buyer will be able to close the dispute and file a claim 17 days after the listing ends on eBay. (Currently, there is a 30-day waiting period).
* Better Integration with PayPal -- Buyers who pay with PayPal will be brought directly to PayPal to initiate a claim. PayPal will determine if the claim is eligible for coverage and will pay the claim directly based on criteria for PayPal Buyer Protection or the eBay Standard Purchase Protection Program.

For more information, please read our Item Not Received Frequently Asked Questions and take the educational tour.

As we draw closer to launch, please look for more updates and informative workshops. We welcome your input on the new Item Not Received Process, and we encourage you to email [email protected] with your comments.
Regards,
eBay

I really don't understand the changes regarding time - but will think about that later.

It probably is a way to 'encourage' sellers to take Paypal. A buyer emailed me last week that he wanted to pay by check and somewhere on the auction page, it stated I accepted only Paypal. I am thinking it said the only online payment I accept is Paypal, which is true - but I never could find the message. Next time I list, I will check very carefully to make sure.

Paypal is nice and handy, and I haven't had any trouble. 'Knock on wood'.

Jack,

If you look at the PP fee you can tell whether or not it was a credit card.

Lucy: When I look at my PayPal fee for a buyer's payment, there's always a $figure there. What is it in that number that tells me it's a credit card payment?

Hi,

If it's more than the minimum $0.30 it's coming from a credit card.

Is PAYPAL taking the funds from yourPAYPAL account or directly from your bank or credit card account? I withdraw all funds and I don't ship until I am sure they are deposited in my bank account even though PAYPAL says its OK to ship-Can they get into creidt card or bank accounts to make that withdrawel- Is that legal???
