What are you telling your buyers is the cut off date to buy so you can ship their item on time? I Ship by UPS ground, second day and third day when available. For international sales I use Express Mail.
The problem I have are the items I sale for the most part are made to order. It takes us 48 hours to make and ship but this year has been so busy it's been taking 72 hours.
I never promise a delivery time except when they pay for next day air.

I am not worrying about Domestic buyers yet. Even Media Mail/Parcel Post shipments sent this week should be delivered by Xmas.
International buyers should already know their situation, and I give them a choice of surface or air and tell them ahead of time the estimated delivery times. I always do this anyway, so it's no extra procedure at all.
For my listings ending the week of the 8th, I will put an addendum in my EOA notice with the option of upgrading to UPS. I probably won't have anything ending the week of the 15th. I'll list SOME stuff for the week of the 22nd, with "NO CHANCE FOR XMAS" notice on everything.
I won't be listing much that week anyway, since I expect the FLD to hit about that Thursday. After FLD, everything goes back to my usual schedule.
