This is a very old looking glass bowl, ... inside the bowl at bottom is an embossed bumble bee ... also, note the trapped air bubbles within the glass look peppered with gray dirt or debris, but not the rest of the glass? .... know anything about this maker, or pattern, or why are the air bubbles looking like that???

Thanks in advance! for any input on this.

A rare, yet classic example of Elbonian Metalworking, and quite a find!

The tip-off is da Bumble-Bee, as, for centuries, the Elbonians have been revered as the "Tuna Tinkers"...

Although I feel (and Ralphie concurs) Classics offer is a little on da HIGH side, we sure wouldn't start bidding for ANY amount under $0.10!

Kewl~! .... a not-subscriber to vendio, but is a lurker here (his own words) emailed us, "Bryce, Higbee and Co., EAPG era ... Bryce Higbee was in business from 1879 to 1907. John Higbee then went on by himself from 1907 - 1911. Just did some double checking. only John Higbee used the BEE marking." ... he said the dirtiness inside my glass bubbles is just 'old glass' ... he also said there is an H in the left wing, an 'I' in the center, and a 'G' on the right wing ...... i can make out the G pretty clear but the rest is sort of flat/hazy ...

THANKS, LURKER!

---- Marcia

I can't see your mark to good so I will give you this description and you can tell if this is the mark.

A bee with H on the left wing, I on the body, and G on the right wing. The John B Higbee Glass co. Bridgeville, PA. used this mark on various pieces of its Panelled Thistle and some other patterns, Beginning 1907 and perhaps as late as 1916.

Thanks, Libra ... only the 'G' is real apparent to me on this .... also, I find it interesting that the mark is on the inside of the bowl, instead of the underside ... I know Imperial and some others did these marks on the inside, but that's not normally what we find ... ... i'm convinced this is a real oldie, so I'll see 'how it goes' ...
