Have you noticed that starting on January 12th there are a few new line items on your eBay invoice?
They are:
Special Duration Fee & 7 Day Duration Fee.
They are currently blank but could this be the next round of fee increases????

They were so blinded with greed that they were overlooking the obvious. Looks like they finally figured out that after Feb 18, it will be a nickel cheaper to run two back to back 7 day auctions than a single 10 day auction. You can expect those blank spaces to become occupied with $numbers$ on or before the 18th.

I noticed that today.
It is hard to imagine that eBay would start charging extra for a 7-Day Duration...

How do we get Overstock to be a viable option for buyers?
As a seller, it is simple to move items to any site. The trick is to get buyers to come with.
Maybe we should start a thread on solutions to get buyers there.

Stone - sellers are not going to get people over to Overstock auctions. On top of that, it is not the sellers responsibility. If they are going to charge listing fees they need to be investing some of them in bringing people in. They have a rather extensive advertising campaign going on - perhaps they should make the auctions a bit more prominant in their commercials rather than just advertising that you can get a book for $.25 less there than from Amazon.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

I saw the duration fee with no charge on my account and wrote to Ebay. Had a lengthy reply on how to access my account, this is a laugh because I noticed that fee by accessing my account! I asked what the fee was and this is an excerpt from my reply...<p> " I do understand your concerns regarding your 7 day duration fee and
would like to explain what had happened. I have reviewed your account
and can see that the "7 day duration fee" was shown, however, there was
no charge associated with it. You can verify that by viewing your
account status page."<p> Not really an answer to my question. I wrote again and if I receive a satisfactory answer I'll post it here.

When I pressed for an explanation of the "duration fee" this is the reply. But there was also a comment about watching the announcement board for any changes??? I'm also wondering if this had anything to do with my responding with my auction information on "Want It Now". Getting very suspicious I guess...
"We thank you very much for
contacting us regarding the special duration fee/7 day duration fee line
item you may have noticed in your account status page.
This notation was due to billing backend work that caused the extra line
item to appear. Engineering has resolved this problem and the fix will
appear on the site next week."

I hope the "fix" isn't in the form of another "charge".

I saw it coming with the 10 day fee. If they are going to charge they should let us pick the number of days. I wouldn't mind paying for that - say I want to start on Friday and end on Thur - 1 to 10 days at my option. Give me 2, 4, 6 or 8 days and I would be happy to pay.

Something just occured to me! I did submit auction information for one of my 7 day auctions to the "Want It Now" board. Wonder if Ebay is going to start charging for that additional bit of exposure?

maybedee: if Ebay can get away with it, you can bet they're gonna charge you.
I noticed that extra line in the invoice the other day but didn't think much of it...until today. Looks like the rest of us are going to get some "medicine" along with the "stores" people.
(sorry about the other thread I posted...didn't see this one in time)

I just get my ebay bill and those 7 day duration items are there too. But just on a few. New charges coming down the turnpike, sure appears that way.
