This was in a box lot of jewelry I bought. Funny thing is, I almost tossed it on the give away pile. Good thing I decided to check for a mark. It's marked 14k. Anyway, anyone know what type of chain this is? Also, how do you price gold item? I'm clueless here. BTW, my son who at first said he'd never want it suddenly is very interested now that he knows it's 14 k. LOL!

Hi Cheryl ... that style is called Figaro chain ... you can see some more like that searching figaro chain at feebay.
........ mmmmm getting up to 50-some degrees today, in NE Ohio ... ahhhh... make sure you and Ken get out some and enjoy it!
I'm still down with that darned flu. Now I have the bronchitis-like coughing. I think I'll park a chair outside and sit in the sun for a while. Hopefully, that will restore some of my energy. It's been an entire week now. I missed almost a week of work.

Cheryl,
If you can manage, get to the health food store and find some Fenu-Thyme. It is a combo of Fenugreek and thyme.
I am prone to bronchitis if I get even the smallest sniffle and the Fenu-thyme has kept me from having a major bout in about 2 years.
Also, make sure there is enough humidity in your house. The winter heat over-dries the indoor air making it harder for your lungs to naturally clear out toxins.
A child's humidifer used overnight in the bedroom works wonders.

Cheryl.....bring it to a jeweler and make sure that it really is 14k. It likely is, but the mark in itself doesn't guarantee it is. Have the jeweler weigh it on a gold scale. These things are valued by the weight of the gold, measured in pennyweights. This chain looks to me like it weighs about 35 pennyweights. A pennyweight of 14k gold is valued today at about $11 in gold scrap value. That makes your chain worth $385 just for the weight of the gold. Nice find!! I'd be cautious in listing it on Ebay. A chain like this is quite common. If you start it at 1 cent with no reserve, I have seen things like this wind up selling for less than the scrap value. If you start it at $400 it likely will not draw a bid. If it does it sells for close to that and after the Ebay fees you lose. Best bet is probably to just scrap it with a local jeweler. Feel better.
