I think this was a good decision, but Ai! Carrumba! me-&-Ralphie are gonna be really upset in 4 MONTHS:

Here's what we did:

Over the past 6-7 days, I've been converting ALL my feeBay STORE listings into 120 day durations --

It cost us $11.00 to do so --

This AM we had our FIRST store SALE under the NEW SODOMY-FEE SCHEDULE:

$135.98 -- FVF = $4.98

BUT, as Ralphie explains it to moi, in FOUR MOS, that same transaction will be:

$135.98 -- FVF = $8.80

An incredible increase of: $3.82...

Anyhoo, it looks like the PLAN will quickly pay off the $11 cost, and tis true that 4 mos listings that were listed UNDER THE OLD FEES are charged the OLD FVF

But, "Goshes & Gollywompers, Chipper-Monkees", the FVF HIT FOR STORE OWNERS it truly...MASSIVE!

And I listed about 1000 items on the 5 cent listing day, and will re-list all of them in the store when the time is up and the new fee applies. I get much higher sales this week, but higher fees from now on.

It's ALWAYS a trade-off with eBay, isn't it?

I'm so impressed with E-Bay Stores that after I cancelled mine, we rented a second booth in one of our Peddlers Malls. Excided about Christmas already.

I just looked over my charges from ebay today on my account and they charged me the old 5.25% on store items that were bought today.

I was trying to see how much the gouging is going to hurt but can't see it yet. Is the new rate coming at midnight? Or will they just 'adjust' it once they realize the mistake?

ugh

If your store item was listed BEFORE the 18th, the old rate applies until the listing expires. That's kinda the whole point behind TomWiWi's post- he's listing for 120 days to lock in the old rate as long as he can.

All of my items are GTC~does that mean I never get hit with the new fees as long as I continue to revise and add inventory onto the listings and don't let them end?

Geeeeesh!

His crate-castle is mortgaged to the hilt now as it is!

Just how much do ya think he can squeeze out of his $30 property investment, anyway??

Wendy- I THINK GTC is actually just a standard 30 day listing that renews itself. I would GUESS that you'll get the new rate within a month.

Replay - you're right. The GTC gets charged the new rate when they renew.

Wish it were the other way around.

WendyWins ..... no, you will now be charged the full 8% "new" FVF on anything that sells from your store, as I understand it.

This was the question I ask the other day.

My question was - is the FFV charge for store items based on the rate the day of listing or the fee rate the day of sale?
The eBay represenative said -the rate is locked in the day of listing. If listed prior to Feb 18th for 30, 60, 90,120 days the old rate applies.

However if listed "Good Til Cancelled" after it renews itself it goes to the current (outrageous ) final fee rate.

the FVF is relative to the LISTING day...

I know Tom - I have never been much of an advocate for ebay stores, and after the rates really kick in, I find them useless -JMHO

Of course, some are real sucessful with their eBay stores

Ralphie's STORE has been a GREAT SUCCESS since NOV 1...

...just gonna be a much SMALLER success after 4 months passes --

The point of da thread was to demonstrate in REAL HARD COLD TERMS just how high the fee increase is -- TIS HUGE!

Thanks Replay~that makes perfect sense!

My agony will increase slowly as my items turn over. I sell about 3000 items from my store during the month so that gives me lots of incentive to get my website running in the next week or so.
