99 listings and 6 sales. Not my idea of a break for sellers. I had decided to stop auctions for a few weeks as it was so slow. Then ebay dangled that carrot and I went for it.

It all helps of course but I wish Ebay would get thier house in order and entice more bidding on auctions. I don't see any more advertising on the TV.

Seven day listings and no one bids until the last hour. And today is a holiday and snow storm, you would think everyone was in the mood to find a treasure.

PLEASE BRING BACK THE GOOD OLD DAYS.....

Yes, promotional listing days are probably the WORST times to list, since you end up with A LOT more competition, since everyone else lists at the same time to save some money...There winds up being way more auctions than usual closing at the same time as yours, so people have many more auctions to choose from.

Damn that evil eBay for not making people bid your items. Don't they know that they should be luring people in and forcing them to give their money to you.

It always amazes me when people blame ebay for no bids as if there is absolutely no possiblity that maybe they were just not selling what people wanted at a price they wanted to pay.

I assume that since you stopped selling this is an ongoing problem that you have had so why is it now the fault of a promotion.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

Mine haven't been as much of a bust...of 108 items listed last Monday, 2 went by BIN, and of what's left, 29 have bids (some higher than I was expecting). I think at least some of the rest will go later tonight before they expire (someone overseas asked what shipping on 50 similar items will run).

I listed on 5 cent day but only for 3 days. Had over 40% sell thru. Not to bad. I was happy with it.

I can't complain. Bidding war-lette on one item and another I thought was a BIG ERROR of judgement has a bid because I changed catagories.
Markets change and morph.

Some things I don't even think "ebay" when I want to shop. I wonder how many people do that, too?

I had a 28% Sales-thru-rate which isn't that bad for as many listings that were on for the promotion. At 5 cents a listing I was happy with what ever I got in sales.

"99 listings and 6 sales"

you got change from that 5bucks; your not selling more, is a function of not having what the customer wants/needs/desires.

none of us 'need the good old days;' we all need more customers; then we would all probably need more merchandise to sell.

i spent less than you did. and i got lucky; turning 7 auctns for some good bucks..but as i said i was lucky enuff to have what someone wanted.

"they were just not selling what people wanted at a price they wanted to pay."

there, someone else said it better than me.

All the bidders are playing the Treasure Hunt contest instead of bidding.

Yesterday, I watched counters on some items go from 10 to 1800 in a matter of minutes. Of course no bids.

Listed 37, sold 26 for 70%, pretty happy with results, some went slightly lower than I hoped but good overall.

I listed some expensive items, since listing fee was a nickel. I was always hesitant to list them at a high starting bid when I didn't know if they'd get an opening bid. Results were 40% sold, BUT they sold for more than I was expecting. I'm very happy with 5 cent listing day.

Ended up with 55% selling (some for more than I was expecting).

Can't complain.

Fenix03, I loved your response. I commend you for having the guts to say exactly what I was thinking (being new to these threads, I was too scared people would attack me for it).

I get tired of hearing so many people complain about eBay. It's been a godsend for me. I sell items much faster, for much higher prices and for MUCH lower expenses than I could in a retail store.

No sales (from 7 BIN listings) but heaps of "Best Offers" as we wanted to test out how well it worked as a promotional tool.

Did see a major jump in website sales from interest in our products on eBay so all's well that ends well! Best seen as a low cost, low risk sales promotion tool (for our websites). Otherwise eBay has been dead of late...

"Best Offers" my butt. I don't offer it an don't plan to. But still, I got this gem in my mail today:

"Hi, I saw that you were recently unsuccessful in selling a few games. I was interested in some of them, but felt the starting prices in combination w/ the shipping were too high. Would you be willing to lower the prices and combine shipping, then create a buy it now option for me? I'm interested in the following games: xxxxx1, xxxxx2, xxxxx3, xxxxx4, xxxxx5. Please let me know either way."

But the thing is, four out of five of the games we was asking about sold at the fixed-price I was asking

Fenix
with over 4000 messages from you on this board it looks like you have more time to make derogatory remarks and insult other people then most of us. You may be right, I might not have what most people want. I leave the toys and electronics for people like you to sell.

My products sell just fine and I have been on ebay since 2000. I don't need your arrogant remarks nor do I need to defend my products or my activities.

Oldtoy.... same to you. I bet people like you two love chasing away the newbies and people who don't like to get on these boards for help when you two launch into an opinionated attacks. Thank God we all don't think like you.

Get a life.

I was going to respond but I see it is pointless, your attitude Greengate is probably enough to scare off potential bidders.
