There is a serious problem with ebay, lately when I try to answer a question, I get this. I try again, 3 or 4 times, and then it works! Anyone else having this problem, it is driving me crazy!

me neither??
however, sometimes I go to the very bottom of the page to Post Reply, instead of the bottom of this square, answer space. it is white writing on blue background, and not at the very bottom where it says, post reply in blue on white. hope you understand what I am saying

It's when I click on reply to a question. I answer it, press submit, and I get the message Unable to find the requested question - I click on the back button on the browser, resubmit it, and sometimes on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th try it submits - Today, I could not get it to submit at all, I just answered directly via email.

The main question is, why are you responding to the questions through ebay and not directly through e-mail is beyond me and completely foolish. They are you potential customers and you should treat them as such. Responding via ebay is way too impersonal and un-reliable.

Stone, responding directly to the "customer" is asking to be put on spam email list!
If you respond thru eBay, you can choose to hide your email address, thus keeping one layer of security between yourself and the spammers.
Out of the many questions I receive from supposedly "buyers", most of them are not even US bidders. If they want to know my email address, they can bid on my item and then we'll enjoy a nice exchange.

One problem I have had lately is getting bogus "ask seller a quesion" emails. When I try to respond through ebay I get the "sign in" button...I don't respond through ebay anymore and unless I can identify the item, don't respond at all.
Are you sure they were questions related to one of your items? If they were general like,"My mother bought something from you a few weeks ago and I would be interested in purchasing..." DON'T SIGN IN!

Neglus - don't be so broad.
Consider the paranoia levels that exist around here and then ask yourself if your really should be feeding in to it with such a broad statement. The truth is that not every person is going to give exact item info in email, especially since when they send the question they see that information and wrongly assume that it is forwarded on to us in the email. Since you have to sign in on legit emails also wouldn't it be better to say....
Look at the URL before signing in.
Not LT but.... they are beating a dead horse

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

I don't click links in anyone's email who I do not personally know. To answer buer's questions, I log into My Ebay. you will find a list of buyers questions on your home page and can answer them from there.
You have the optionof displaying the question and answer on your auction page. You also have the option of hiding your email address in the response to the potential buyer.
The PB will receive the email via Ebay's mail system whether or not you opt to show the reply on your auction.
Another plus of doing it this way, you can easily see the bidder's FB link on the answer page. I always check to see if they look like trouble.

Fenix - I meant to be so broad. If there is ever going to be an end to this password harvesting, then ebay has to figure a way to communicate WITHOUT requiring a sign-in. A flat - "Ebay and PayPal will NEVER send you an email that requires a sign-in" would do.
Logging into My Ebay to pick up your questions is a good way to by-pass the signon through an email link and a better business practice.

You have to click on the drop down box above the box where you are submitting the question and choose one of the questions.
ie general question about this item, question about shipping for this item, etc etc.
That's why it keeps saying "unable to find the requested question".
