Just sent out my end-of-auction notices. Received a message back from a winning bidder (actually, an automated response) telling me that he has a spam blocker on his computer. In order for me to respond/get in touch with him, I have to download some program and get on his "approved" list. Frankly, I'm a bit put out with this and have various things in mind. Have you had this happen and what did you do?

had it happen last week. I sent him an email through Ebay and told him to add me to his mail list because I do not click on links in emails.

Hi ltray...Stupid question time...where/how do I go about contacting him through eBay? I think this is really a hassle and will put this guy on my blocked bidder list! I don't have time to go through hoops and whistles. Seems to me that he should have gone ahead and put me on his "approved list" when he was bidding on my auction. My mini-rant for the evening...ARGGG

Easiest way is to pull up his feedback page and click the "contact buyer" tab on the right side.

Don't forget to include your invoice after you rag him about his spam blocker!

BTW, my instance was with a buyer who had an earthlink email address.

I agree with blueyes.

Why should sellers have to jump through hoops, maybe these buyers shouldn't be on eBay if they don't want spam. I don't like
Spam (well not the email kind)either. I wonder what they will think when they try and bid on another auction and can't...

::Seems to me that he should have gone ahead and put me on his "approved list" when he was bidding on my auction::

Do you include your email address so that this is possible?

Ironic that the only other active thread right now is one where the seller advocates keeping their email address hidden until the aution is completed.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

Fenix, I don't "hide" my email until the auction is complete, but they don't get my email address until there is a reason for them to have it. If they bid, I'll be happy to give them the info.

Until they bid, why should they need my info? All communication can be handled thru Ebay without giving them my addy to sell.

LT - personally I don't think they need the info until after they win. I simply trying to point out that the OP seems to have a strange set of expectations.

Unless they include their email address in the text of each auction it would be difficult for a bidder to add them to their accepted email list.

Well...my bidder paid so all is well as far as that goes. I think I will comment on the "spam filter" in my positive feedback comment though...

I had this happen recently. Then again when the bidder emailed me to complain that the item hadnt arrived yet and I sent him an email
w/the shipped date. Like you guys, I dont click on links or fill in forms, to much phishing going on out there.
Concerned that I was going to get a neg for not sending him emails I pulled up his contact
info and called him. I got his answering machine, so left him a msg w/the shipped date and that I couldnt email him due to his spam blocker.
The next day I got an email from him and it seems he did get my emails, they are put in some kind of junk folder that he goes through.
You would think that he would have placed me on his approved list the first time or sent an email explaining that he did get the emails despite the spam blocker.
So your bidder is probably getting the emails.
In the future if I get one of these I will email them again and request that they email me back with confirmation that they received the invoice.
