Have any of you reached this point in your ebay business yet? I still print out a copy of my transactions, and just got to wondering when if ever, I will get to this paper-less society they keep talking about?

I think I am too old to be paperless. I like to hold the paper in my hand and sort throught piles looking for it. Sometimes that is easier than trying to find it on the computer.
But I do not print out each transaction. I fill out a form I devised for each one with only the pertinent info. (Different colors for different catagories.) It goes with the item to shipping where details, of when it was sent and how much it cost, are noted on the form. Then stored by date. (Shipping is my fantastic husband who packages and does all the mailing.)
I really admire those of you who do it all. That would get old, very fast, for me!!

lol herbsandcrafts. Thats what I was thinking. Old bookkeeping routines die hard. I know I am not doing this up to current technicalogical speed, but wearing 'all' the hats (it does get trying some days) is the about the only way to expedite it and get it over with for me

I'm not into paperless yet, either. It's simpler for me to have a sheet of paper for each transaction, in a folder, rather than try to find it in my computer (what did I call it, where is it, etc. etc.). It's been said that, with the advent of PCs, we're actually using more paper--more stuff to print out that we've found on the internet, etc.

The only paper I use is a spiral notebook where I write down each buyer name, date and amount, and all expenses. Could do it on a spreadsheet, I guess, but I spend so much time in front of a computer it's nice to have a break.
Keep a paper copy of each transaction? Yuck. It's all on Vendio.

When it comes to ebay - I am paperless. I address all of my envelopes from PayPal and make a note as to what the order is for on the envelope. Once I am done with all of the PayPal payment for the day (I usually do the envelopes around midnight or so) I head over to Works and mark each of the corresponding orders as paid and shipped as needed then fill the envelopes and head to the post office in the morning.
I am not the world neatest person and I am already innundated with supplier catalogs, new inventory flyers, price lists, PO's, product sketches, quotes, etc so adding any more paper to the mix is simply a recipe for disaster. I just found the surface of my desk for the first time in two weeks.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

Well, I think some of my habit came from being on dialup and I found it easier to be able to access my records in print, when I wasnt or couldnt be online. But I am beginning to see where I am spinning my wheels here especially when I am not in the mood for it. I dont think we will ever go into an entirely paperless world either. You cant with the insecurity of computers mother nature etc. But if I brought it into word or access like neglus thought of a few days back.......
... now if I could only get somebody to pack and go for me...
