I am in need of some advice from the experts!

I've gotten myself into a little situation here with the local rat pack of dealers. One has been a "friend" - friendly competition at yard sales but he has turned into a copycat. He used to buy mostly antiques but I notice he is watching my auctions and buying what he sees I sell for good money. This week I asked him how he knew to buy some old girlie mags and he said from my auctions THEN he asked me what's a good ebay title line! I know this can't be prevented but with the two of us at the same sales I'd like to do some stealth selling.

So, do any of you have multiple ID's? If so, do you have to have two different email accounts and Vendio accounts? Sounds like a lot of work. What's the easiest way to do this?

Any insight into how you have handled similar situation is appreciated!

I wouldn't advise selling with a 2nd ID just to avoid someone from recognizing your auctions.

Even if you had multiple ID's, you'd be best to list with the one with the highest feedback, and have the chance of returning customers.

The person watching your auctions is problably watching many other people as well.

I have 2 selling accounts. The second account is for consignment sales only. You are correct, in that you have to have seperate email accounts for each, and if you use Vendio, you will have to open a second Vendio account. You cannot use one VD account anymore for two seperate Ebay accounts. Be sure you don't put your location or zip code on the second Ebay account where it appears on the auction page if you want to operate in stealth mode. Also, start your second Vendio account with the minimum 5 mb storage plan until you get to selling enough to offset the charges for a higher amount of storage.

Thanks Sparkz!

Sounds like a plan. Harder to manage but will be worth it in the long run.

many thanks

I have three selling accounts. One for the UK, 2 for the US. Since I deal in two different countries I have to have two Works accounts but I am able to operate both of my US accounts from my USD format MarketWorks account (you can have as many auctions accounts as you wish per Works accounts, but only one currency). Now that they are enabled to list to Overstock I was thinking about launching a few over there as well but I need to research it a bit more... (have they ever enabled a "completed Items" search?). Once you get in the grove, keeping the seperate is not all that difficult.

Like you Skizz, I also had competitors and local antique store owners that were on the block where my shop was They were watching my auctions and then looking for the same things I was selling, or telling me didn't you list anything today? So I made a new ID with Ebay, now they couldn't see how much money I was making and what I was selling.

I use the old ID for consignment items.

Maybe if you plan on using another ID you might like to try the auction listing program I use it is cheap and you get everything that Vendio gives. The Cost is only 4.95 a month, no extra charges and no hidden charges and they give you 50MB of Picture storing space. The first month is free if you like to just try it and see if you like it.

Just click on a link in one of my Auctions.

Thanks Tonimar.
I just had a spin around the other site and I can't believe it's so gol dern cheap! That is a concept!

Like you, I will be using two IDs simultaniously so having the two accounts will do the trick. It's hard to believe you can get all that service for only 4.95 a month! Am I reading something wrong? sheeesh! I'm paying 10X that here. I'll check it out for my second account.

At this point I will do anything to get away from this guy's prying eyes.

Hi skizz

Yes its true, only 4.95 a month for everything.

like you I was paying here with vendio 60.00 to 80.00 a month .........I have been using this service for 5 months now and I am happy with it, especially the $$$ savings.

It gives me what I need, I hope you find that it works for you also. If you do use it and need any help let me know I will be happy to help you.

Tonimar

I was looking at your auctions and the site to list. I sure like their templates and took a spin around the site. This only drawback I see at this point is that your auction picture (4" wide) s do not enlarge as big as the Vendio ones (6" wide). I wonder if that is standard over there? I don't know any other seller's auctions to check. I do love the Vendio enlargements.

A year ago I got a second ID because of a paranoid relative. It took a bit of work to do all the business with Vendio and Ebay to set up that second account, but it's worth it. And take the advice from someone here: Don't list your exact location with your new ID. Good luck.
