I am currently set up for direct pay on ebay (I think that's what it's called- my seller's fees get debited from my bank account directly). My fees are due to be debited on the 16th, Monday, but I don't think that the funds will be there on the 16th. What I wanted to do was charge it on an Amex. When I went to my seller's account on ebay, though, it only shows my current account status. Does anyone know how I can take care of this before they try to debit it from my account? I want to get it done soon because I'm worried that the account will be suspended if there are insufficient funds (and I'll also get a charge at the bank).

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Yves

You have the option to make a one time payment via credit card, and I actually did it once a few years ago. However, it's very risky because you can't trust Ebay's accounting department to put 2 and 2 together and come up with 4. It's possible they could accept the Amex payment and still try to debit your bank account. The way I would do it is to get a cash advance on the Amex and deposit it on the 16th into your account so that the Ebay debit will go through. Then you might want to think about tieing your Amex to your checking account for overdraft protection so that if this ever comes up again, you'll be coverd.

sparkz is right--I made a one-time payment a while back before it was due and eBay still took the money out of my bank account in addition to accepting the one-time payment. Your best bet is to make sure the money is in the bank.

Yes, they are right.

I have direct pay. In September I goofed and did not have enough money in my bank account. It bounced.

I called right away (powerseller line) and made a one time payment with Paypal. I specifically
asked if the other would not go through again and they ASSURED me that they would not debit the bank account again once I made the one time Paypal payment

Well guess what..... they debited my bank account two more times!!! On the third try ebay suspended my account for no pay! I kept calling and they couldn't even stop it from happening! I incurred 90.00 worth of bounced charges (ebay eventually credited me after faxes and phone calls), my account came back within 24hours but only because I could call the silver powerseller line!

On top of all that, my bank put a 6 month hold on all deposits over 500.00 because of the ebay direct pay bounces in Sept.

So long story short, beg, borrow, steal to get the money in your account!

Thanks for all of that! I'm going to go ahead and take the cash advance and eat the 3% charge just to avoid what sounds like a ton of headaches. I've tied up money in some great vintage stock that I just couldn't pass up and now I'm realizing that I'm going to be short at the bank.

Thanks again for the help!
