That announcement is not on the Ebay announcement board. It is quite strange for Ebay to have a 10 cent auction listing when the listings for the 10 cent fixed-price event are still on Ebay.

Other than the link provided I couldn't verify this on eBay either. But then I've always been a bit mystified on how folks find these things out. You'd think eBay would splash it on their home page. Seems like sometimes I get a promotional email but sometimes I don't.

wOw~ Very unusual to do these back to back isn't it? The link to "sell your item" doesn't work...I wonder if this is sneak-preview of the announcement scheduled for later tonight?

The way I found it was one of those little ads on the top right hand side of the my ebay page. I clicked on it and it took me to the linked page.
Edited to add:
Time to change those fixed priced items to auction style auctions. It's going to be a busy night.

Are you ending them and relisting as auction?

No, just changing them, since I sell alot of the same items, and I use sparedollar. I just have to go and change the format to auctions.

I just went into My Ebay, checked messages from eBay & there was nada about 10 cent day.
Went back in a second time, there is no ad in the upper right hand corner of My Ebay. Again checked the Announcements Board again nada

Canada has a 10 cent listing day also.

A Canadian dime is worth about 8 cents.

Received via email at 8:00 PM CST.
While I appreciate the chance to save some money on listing fees, I get a little peeved at the ALWAYS very last minute notification.
Would it really hurt eBay Mr Cobb to give us at least 24 hours notice of an upcoming promotion?

***One-Day 10¢ Listing Day Sale Auction-Style Listings***
Date: 05/16/05 Time: 05:02:06 PM PDT
To Our Community:
Last Thursday we held a 10-cent Fixed Price listing promotion…this week, to show our appreciation for eBay sellers, I'm happy to offer a one-day promotion on www.ebay.com and www.ebay.ca during which insertion fees for auction-style listings will be just 10 cents. I know this doesn't make up for the disruption the outage caused, but I wanted to thank you for your patience and support last week.
It starts at midnight tonight. For complete details, please click here [http://pages.ebay.com/promo/10centevent/?ssPageName=CMDV:AB1000] for the US and here [http://pages.ebay.ca/promo/10centevent/] for Canada.
Since last week I've gotten several offers to buy emergency generators – thanks everyone, but we're all set.
Sincerely,
Bill Cobb
President
eBay North America

Just got e-mail from Ebay. I am surprised that they did not delay this promotion until Memorial Day Weekend when things are expected to be very slow but offered it with and ending day before people take off. They will ofcourse pick up additional money from their gallery pics at 35 cents a throw.

But all my stuff's still lasted from last week's 10 cent fixed price sale. Whose bright idea was this?
At the very least, they could have just picked ONE day and made any kind of listing 10 cents. Then we would have had the option of either FP or Auctions.

Replay...mine are too
I have 2217 listings still running from the FP day.
I only managed to list 100 today for the auction style.
I hate FP but bet Ebay will probably use the figures to show people actually prefer it since more listings may be made on the FP than on the Auction day.
I hope there were lots of people who didn't use the orginial 10 cent day so listing numbers will soar much higher for just auction listings. I would prefer to never use FP.
