Hi, I cannot for the life of me come up with what this toy is called. The disk rolls from end to end and lights up with a red light on one side and blue light on the other. The only markings are 'made in Taiwan' so I suppose it is not really valuable but it is a lot of fun. Thank you in advance.

I remember those! I think my kids even had them way back in the 1990's LOL..is it a variation of a gyroscope?

For some reason I want to say a Gyroscope, but I don't think that's correct....although it does look like something jack would play with...

I don't know what it is called but I think it is sold only at curcuses. That's the only place I ever remember seeing them and every vender had them.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

I tried to look up gyroscope but that gave me those great round ones that could set on a pen and wobble around without falling off. I think you are probably right about circus toy, I have not seen it in a toy store lately. Thanks, Pat

That's it!! Thank you Toasted! It was driving me crazy. It looks like they aren't worth a lot so my grandkids will have fun playing with it, if I can get it away from Grandpa.

These devices were developed in the Soviet Union in the early 50's. They were introduced in Poland as IUD's in an attempt to control the rapid post war population explosion in that country. They remained in use until the collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 90's. At that time, the United States introduced twin beds to Poland and the devices were discontinued. And as Stone so correctly states, used ones are now being sold in the dollar stores in the United States. Ummmm....Pmelcher, where did you find that one that you have????
