I have searched and searched and can't find where to find the place to change the payment options and personal message that come up in the box at the bottom of the "send an invoice" form. Can someone help please??

amber, it's under "payment and shipping" near bottom of the edit page ... but it DID make me jump thru a weird hoop that I'd never seen before, where-as I had to go to "edit payment and shipping" twice to get the correct page to come up ... but yes, it was 'editable' ... (or was it, edible)
I found these two links that seem to have some related info on your question - I don't send invoices this way myself, so am not sure how appropriate they are, but the links might be at least a start.
On sending invoices; "Specify details such as shipping and handling, insurance, tax and available payment methods."

g'morning, bc ... yes, I think amber's referring to the area of customizable text, which DURING the auction/listing, appears near the bottom of the page, but as soon as the listing ends, that text then magically appears at the top of the page sort of giving instructions to the buyer. ... (which is a great place to put a "thanks! feel free to keep on shopping through our listings for s/h/i break to your benefit ... we'll invoice you within 24 hrs.)
IF you happen to use ebay's invoicing system (which I do), when the seller clicks to 'send invoice', that same 'custom text' appears in a box on the invoice page itself (which I alter to be applicable to the invoicing info) ....

estatesalestuff: yes, that is the area I want to edit, I can change it each time I send an invoice, but there has to be a way to edit it, it is the message I put in there originally. I don't use checkout, this is the "send buyer an invoice" form. I went through all the "eBay preferences", but it is not under any of those options. I have changed my payment options, and they come up in the box on that form, so I need to change it.

you want to just edit it on 1 listing? ...
then go into 'edit' at the ebay listing ...
or are you saying you want to edit the default that you have in there now, for all your future listings? ... if you use vendio to do up your listings, you would find that under Account/Global preferences, I believe.
