I picked this up over the weekend, assuming it's Japanese. Print is of Mt Fuji. Can anyone tell me anything about the characters in the picture?

Bump so Classic and Stop can see the picture.

If you tell them Benjamin Franklin said it first, they'll believe you

the signature stands for top of the mountain + day (day as in daytime),does not ring the bell.
It looks like a later period print, you will have to remove the frame to see if it is a woodblock print or just print or brush painting .
It looks like a brush painting to me.

It appears to have been painted with some thick paint in spots--like in the calligraphy photo--showing slightly raised dots of white. If you list it, be sure to take a side-angle shot that shows the raised paint so people know it has some texture to it.

It appears to be a print with gold raised highlighting. It's going to my mall spot, I was just curious as to what the lettering said.
