I won an auction today and went into PayPal to pay. I paid, however, the payment is sitting "unclaimed" and the details say "(The recipient of this payment is Unregistered)". I contacted the seller who says she cannot understand what is going on because she just received a payment for another auction with no problem. I canceled one payment thinking there was a glitch. I re-made the payment and it still says the same thing.

I'm stumped and can't get her to understand that it's on her end and not mine. Any suggestions?

She has her email addresses screwed up!

Tell he to go into her PayPal account & see WHICH email address she has listed there!

Some morons use one for feeBay & a different one for PayPal -- that's OK, but ye have to list it again at PP!

First, click on her feedback profile and make sure she hasn't been NARU'd today.

Tom, that was it! We've finally straightened it out. Her invoice came after I had already paid and the invoice had a different email address to use for PayPal. Guess I should stop paying right away.

Cheryl,

As a seller you should always have a different email address for PayPal than that used for eBay otherwise you'll constantly get spam and spoof emails on your PayPal account. Also it avoids buyers trying to shortchange you on S&H, etc. and gives you the option to ask for an alternate payment method for high-risk buyers.

oh agitprop ...but there's nothing worse than trying to deal with a seller OR buyer that uses 2 diff email addresses for paypal vs. ebay .....

and most seasoned sellers (such as Cheryl) knows how to spot a spoof email from a mile away.

No way am I dealing with two email addresses. Estatesalestuff is right. I've been at this long enough to know a spoof when I see one. I've been registered with PayPal for over five years and I hoped I've learned something in that time. I also rarely get spam.

I see both sides. I personally don't want anyone paying until I have sent the winning bidder notice, but I don't reject them either. I do use the same e-mail address for both most of the time. I do have a second PayPal account mostly for personal transactions.

The basic rule though is to make it as simple for the buyer as you can. Most are pretty stupid and the bidding process is complicated enough. It is best to make the actual payment as easy as possible.

I get quite a few buyers who pay for their items twice through Paypal. Most are kind enough to e-mail and let me know so I can deny the second payment right away. So I agree its confussing enough for the buyer.
