Sold a HUGE Pepsi Cola soda vending machine,,,personal pick up ONLY NO Shipping! He buys,,I send the hoorah! you wun e mail,,,No response.Three days later Pay pal comes, I say CASH ONLY at pick up. I respond on the pp notice. Thanks! when will you be coming. The weekend passes. Tuesday he responds, Sometime this week he says. WHAT?!!!!!! Sometime? this week? I need a DEFINITE DATE. o.k. Thursday,,,,it comes and goes, nothing,,,,here it is Tuesday. It is taking Valuable Space in my truck. ( I am convinced a juvenile bought this) Yes, he paid. Now what? I even told him I would impose a $20.00 PER day storage fee. It's now been 14 days. The $20.00 was to get him MOTIVATED. Today I am hiring a fork lift to take it out of the truck. There is No place for me to store this. Only an Open public parking lot.

Todays e mail to him is gonna be,,,,I claim No futher obligation or responsibilty. The Machine is in a Public parking lot. Have nice day and thanks for your purchase.

His responses are minimal and far apart.

Comments are appreciated. What else can I possibly do?

Thanks!

Forget the email tag game. Pull his info and call him up. Meanwhile, hang a for sale sign on it and price it at $50.00 more than he paid. If someone else buys it, refund his Paypal payment.

He gets the e mails,,,I ain't calling him. I said LOCAL! I am in Anaheim this idiot is in Bakersfield! Otherwise I would drive it to his house and kick it out. The For Sale thing,I have been doing that since I became convinced he's half brain dead. No takers. they see it at the car shows still in my truck. And yup, I would just refund him if someone else were to buy it.

Now what?

Jack, if you dump this in a parking lot & someone else takes it is it possible the buyer can do a chargeback with paypal for non receipt of goods?

oh call him up, what's it gonna cost with a cheap phone card, 50 cents for 10 minutes? cheaper than the risk of a paypal chargeback...unless the 30 days has gone by and you're home free with paypal. once sold a large wooden item to a man three states away. took him about six months to come pick the item up. never again.

Mc, interesting how that one would play out,,it's a pick up ONLY.

Hmmmm, 30 days an there is Nothing he can do?

No doubt that machine will be GONE in 24 hours dropped in the lot.

Vint,,,so how do you stop that from happening AGAIN?

Bottom line, I am NOT in the storage business.

After 30 days have passed, send him an email saying" it was a pleasure meeting you and your friend when you picked up the machine last week. I hope we can do business again in the future". Then peel those damn Pepsi signs off it and replace them with Budweiser signs. List it again and sell it for twice as much. If you'da been dealing with beer drinkers in the first place, you wouldn't have had this problem. You know how flakey those Pepsi generation people can be

It says INSTANT on the pay pal payment. Does that mean he did NOT use a Credit card? OR how can I tell if he did or did not use a CC....

I would take a look at all his purchases / sales through his feedback if you can - I wonder if he's a dealer who is:
A: Traveling to shows, etc. without computer access;
B: Trying to resell it prior to picking it up so you have to store it, not him;
C: Brain dead;
D: All of the above.

screw that jack!

1) if you've already started charging storage fees and already contacted him, he knows the deal. i would recommend sending him a certified letter stating when the storage fees begin, how much they are, and the final deadline when he no longer owns the item. the certified letter is your proof that you sent him the required information and will help you if his cc attempts a chargeback.

2) require that storage fees be paid before he picks up item

3) if he doesn't pick up item, wait until the storage fees have accumulated to the point where it covers the cost of the item.

4) relist the item and sell it again.

Calling is reserved for when there is a problem. There is no problem here. Come and get it!

A problem is like, where is my item? been over 25 days,,,THEN I get on the phone and we talk. and UPS ends up being the culprit.
