Doe Vendio not support the Best Offer feature on ebay? I know it's been around for several months and figure Vendio would have adopted it by now. Am I missing how to do this?

Thanks!

Thanks for showing your ignorance in NOT answering the question asked.

Why I would or would not want to use a tool provided by eBay is NOT relevent to the question of HOW does one doing using the normally thorough Vendio toolset.

Fortunately, not everyone here is as unhelpful as yourself or feels that everyone should think, act, and do everything in the same manner as yourself.

I agree with buyhigh.

Why would you want to?

The Best Offer feature helps prevent bidders from bidding. You hope the they will offer MORE than the current price, but they usually offer only LESS...

Perhaps I should take this to the Vendio forum for some helpful answers.

Again WHY isn't relevant AT ALL. HOW is all that is necessary here.

Vendio doesn't support it and probably never will. At least I hope not. Best offer has nothing to do with an auction venue. It belongs at a swapmeet.

Thanks for the answer.

I'll write Vendio encouraging them TO support this valuable tool. ebay IS more like a swap meet these days and Best Offer can help close some sales. Since Best Offer, Like Buy It Now and Fixed Price ARE supported by ebay and Vendio - COMMON SENSE says that they would also support Best Offer.

No matter what you nasty "purists" with the snotty attitudes want to imagine.

Best offer is an attempt by Ebay to curb the offline market and bring the participants into the Ebay arena so they could tap them for a FVF. Nothing more. It was never intended to be a tool to help Ebay sellers who attempt to maximize profits through an honest auction format. Instead, it has opened the door to all the bottomfeeders and given an air of legitimacy to their tactics. Sort of like decriminalizing prostitution. Sorry, but I for one refuse to participate in this swim party, until they find a more suitable place than the sewer to host it.

But since Best offer is not even AVAILABLE on regular auctions your point is completely invalid.

Apparently people here cannot read the question. Nowhere was it asked for their opinion on Best Offer. Nowhere.

What was asked was a simple, valid, friendly question. But some self-appointed auction-nazis think it's their place to dictate to other what is and isn't proper.

Shame on them!

I agree vendio should at least support best offers and let seller decide if he wants to use it or not just like buy it now or other listing upgrade that vendio supports. Best offer is for store or fixed price items so can really help when you don't want to list everything at auction or have 100's of items which require you to update each one separately thru ebay with best offer. Easier to have a check box in vendio for it when relisting items. If you don't like the offer just don't accept it. They are not fully supporting store sellers if they don't add it in future which Vendio suppose to make it easier for sellers not harder. Thats what our subscription fees are for. I asked vendio and they said they were looking into it.

I like the Best Offer feature - I've used it as a buyer and a seller - successfully - you don't need to accept the offers if you don't like them! It has also helped me establish a market value for a unique item (I deal primarily in middle to higher end antiques). I'd like it to be offered through Vendio. You are not required to use it if it's offered! It is not a useful tool for all sales. Chill out...

Thank you caroline and vanman for some intelligent discussion on the matter.

I too am listing items (lower end) that benefit from BIN and Best Offer. They are video games and I've found through online experience that video game buyers are more the Buy It Now crowd because they want it NOW. Auctions on these items run the risk of timing and low ending bids solely because there are people offering these at a fair BIN price. So I set my Fixed Price BIN based on the market because I want it sold and available WHEN the buyer is ready to get it. In a real sense, I'm like a used video game store, not an auction on those items.

I also have an advantage because I will ship internationally -- many won't.

But allowing people to haggle on the item's price can show me where I might have been too greedy on my pricing. I want the item SOLD and if it means dealing down a buck or two when the listing is near over, then I certainly will.

Why? Because I'm a smart seller.

It's funny how one after the other people offered there opinion instead of answering your question. You handled that well. Now that your question has been answered I will chime in with my experience. Best Offer works great for me. As noted it can be a good tool for higher priced items. And whatever Ebay's intention was, with best offer I close far more deals with no fvf...ssshhhh. Best offer allows you to open an e-mail dialogue with potential buyers. And it is like a real life auction. Most auctions I've been at...the auctioneer will start out with "Do I hear $100?" If he hears it, fine, if he doesn't hear it, he'll say, "Do I hear $80?"

Why? Because I'm a smart seller.

I totally disagee. What you are is a short term seller and a long term business killer. Once you open the jew down door, you will always have to haggle down your prices to get a sale as bottom feeders will never pay a fair price on any items. In the long run, all you are doing is cutting any profits you may have otherwise realized.

Simply put, the Best Offer feature acts as a barrier to bidding. I wouldn't use unless you have a quantity of a given item to sell.

Stonecold613 -- I'm not even Jewish and your "jew down" comment offends me. Shame on you. You should apologize for your racist remarks.

As for the main point of your comments you couldn't be more wrong. You go to an estate sale or garage sale, you can make the person an offer. They can refuse or accept. Same with Best Offer. I can ignore, refuse, or accept an offer. I can hold it in reserve to see if anyone else bids full price. I'm not cutting any profits (in reality) because (as I clearly said) I may have priced it too high to begin with. It costs $1-$2 to list an item, everytime I have to relist because it was too high, I lose too. So why not MAXIMIZE the sales on the FIRST listing instead of listing 2-5 times. So yes, I'm a SMART seller and you appear not to be (based on your idiotic and offensive comments)

sthoemke: Best offer is NOT a barrier to bidding. If you've READ any of this thread, it's not a feature available on regular auctions, but only on Fixed Price auctions. Fixed Price is a barrier to bidding as well. You learn something new every day, eh?

Oh and GREAT NEWS!

Vendio IS going to be adding support for Best Offer. It's on their list of features to support. So HOORAY for smart sellers and SO WHAT for auction-nazis.

That's very interesting Stonecold. So you're telling us that this Best Offer thing is a Jewish problem? Have you found that Jews are the ones that abuse this best offer feature?

peiklk, I stand corrected. I hadn't relized the feature was only available on fixed priced auctions.

Buyers would still be less likely to purchase at the listed price, so might be best to use on items that are intentally overpriced.
