I don't like to use the generic invoices that are available. I have a form letter that I personalize for each buyer. Recently after I have sent out my EOA message, I have been getting about 70% of the buyers emailing me asking for the total. At first I thought their spam blockers were weeding me out, but now what one of the buyers said makes me think it is something else. They all have been sending me that "Please send me total amount for Ebay ..." form that you get from Ebay after they have already been invoiced. Do I have to use the automatic invoice to get through to them the first time? I hate to do business that way, but I am sure tired of sending the information twice.

hi kasue,

i used to personalize all of my invoices, too. i liked the personal touch. i switched to ebay EOA invoices that are sent automagically, awhile back. it doesn't seem to have affected sales _and_ i no longer get the occasional request for an invoice, like you're getting. it saves me a little time, and i like the automagic invoicing a lot better now. don't think i'd ever go back.

I do personalized EOA messages also. I change the title line to "From your Ebay seller: Gorgeous Gizmo from 1920."

If I don't hear from them in 3 or 4 days, I send a "SECOND NOTICE, PLEASE RESPOND." That works 99% of the time.

If they send me an automated "please send amount," I find my sent message to them and forward it to them.

kasue, maybe it has something to do with going through ebay's check-out? Seems to me ebay's got everything threaded and sewn up right through paypal payment and shipping. So maybe the mail to the seller for what is total amount is automated also when they dont go thru ebays, or a linked up check-out?

Heck, very often it is only 15 minutes after I have sent them the EOA that I get the automated request for the total. Other times it is only 12 hours later. I state exactly what it is in the subject line. When I resend it, I also get into my sent messages and just forward the original message to them. They always seem to get the forwarded one. Go figure. Sure is irritating.

dblfugger9, Now that makes sense to me. I wonder if that is the case. I don't want to give my buyers the third degree or act like I am lecturing them, but I send EOAs out promptly so I don't understand their asking for it. I suppose it could be automated, too.

What I am seeing is newer buyers are confused into thinking that all corrospondences are done through ebay. When they receive a personalized e-mail it seems to confuse them. Personally, I would keep on doing what you are doing. I always send the personalized e-mail as well. Then if I get the send me a total e-mail, I respond with the Info was sent in an e-mail titled, XXXXXXXX. Please use the info in that e-mail to send payment. If for some reason, you deleted it, let me know and I can resend it.
Works everytime and puts the blame back on the shoulder of the buyer.
