Would appreciate anyone IDing this. There are 2 open holders at the top - maybe 1 of the tobacco holder and the other for the ashtray?
But - the bottom has 2 metal inserts for the wood holders.

Beats me! My first thought was umbrella stand--but then you have the little covered dish there, too. I'm not sure an umbrella stand would be made of wood, which could be damaged by water. Good luck--I'm sure someone here can help you further.

Yeah, my guess is umbrella stand too.

I don't think that dish goes with it, though. It seems to be a different style, jmho.

Nice looking stand. Do you have the croquet mallots and balls that go with it

Just kidding niel. My first thought would be for canes or walking sticks, but like the others, that covered dish throws me and makes me think a smoke stand of some type. I agree with roadsmith, it's unlikely it would be an umbrella stand if it's wooden.

This is a Cigar stand...

OOPS!

Oh, your pic...k, I think your pic is a smoke stand. I doubt an umbrella or cane stand would have that bit of routering around the top openings.

I've seen wooden umbrella and cane stands. Don't have a problem with that, but none of the openings look appropirately large enough to be practical for that purpose.

The top holes are a good size for ashtrays and the bottom "cups" could be lined for humidors. Perhaps the tops are missing. I can't tell from the pic, but is there wear in the bottom of the metal cups? if not, its a smoke stand minus humidor tops.

If you see little dimples like someone has consistently dropped an umbrella in, it could be a clue.

Have I totally confused you yet??

Are the liners at the bottom removeable? If so, it could be for dumping the ashes for later clean-up - like a silent butler.

There are no holes from umbrellas in the bottom metal containers which are a bit rusty.
They are removable.
Blev - It may be that the bottom ones were used for ashes.
The wooden container at the top seems to fit in the opening but maybe it was added later.
Maybe the opening were used for ashtrays.

How big is it? It actually looks like a candle holder from the photos, but with you discussion, it sounds like it might be bigger than that.

26 inches would make it about the right height for a cane holder. (Walking stick)

Maybe promote it as both a cane holder or umbrella stand.
