first time getting a complaint from buyer, this was a sale done on my website:

----
Recently, PayPal received a claim from a user regarding merchandise
purchased from you that was defective or materially incorrect. The details
of this transaction are as follows:

XXXXXX

We are currently investigating the merits of the buyer's claim. We will
continue to work with the buyer toward resolution, and you will most likely
not be held liable for this transaction, barring any further notifications
from us.

No further action is required of you. However, in order to improve your
customer satisfaction, we encourage you to work to resolve this matter
directly with the buyer.

As stated in the PayPal User Agreement, we reserve the right to close or
limit access to an account in response to an unusual number of complaints
received about non-shipment of merchandise, non-delivery of services,
merchandise not as described, or problems with merchandise shipped.

Sincerely,

Claim Resolution Department
-----

I dont get why paypal bother to inform me, if they're telling me to not do anything about it.

I went to paypal to see what the complaint about, but the buyer didnt even left any comments.

I have a return policy on my website, he could have just emailed me and I would have given him full refund minus S&H.

eh, I'm wondering should I even bother about it. seems more like buyer remorse than anything else.

Paypal wants you to know that the complaint is filed against you ,altho it requires no action on your part,it will affect your standing with paypal, like it said-if there are too may complaints on non delivery, item not as described etc,it would choose not to do business with you AKA close your paypal account.
So,it is always good to know whenever some one files a complaint .
You should ask your buyer why he did not want to deal with you first before going to paypal

I wish I knew. He didn't even bother letting me know. I always send an email letting them know, if they're not satisfied with their purchase, they should let me know. *shrug*

yeah I figure if there's enough red flag my account may be frozen. eh.

I duno, maybe I'll email him. Generally I would want to serve my customer as much as possible, it's just annoying receiving a complaint.. without um, any detail of the complaint.

I got one just like that about 2 weeks ago and forwarded it to PayPal.

Paypals response was it was not from them and was a fake e-mail.

(I know it's called something other than fake e-mail but can't think of it right now.)

dragonfyree, I think you're looking for the term "phishing". They probably want you to click on a link in the email to "log in" to PayPal to view the claim. It will of course not really be PayPal you're logging into.

Dragonfyree...I have received 3 very similar emails recently, purportedly from Ebay, in which a fraud complaint was lodged against me. It supposedly was for a Pep Boys gift certificate for $100.00 that I never shipped, and they paid via Paypal. I would have been worried, but the fact is, I never sold a gift certificate, and I never received a Paypal payment because I don't accept Paypal and don't have an account with them. I checked the headers, and sure enough it was a bunch of college kids playing games.

there's no links in this one.

and its shown on the paypal site as having an open case.

so yeah its for real. not that its that big of a deal. I just wish the buyer left some comment in the complaint.

he didnt even edit the original message of "you have blah blah amount of characters to type in your comments."
