I have only 10 items listed right now. They all end tomorrow at different times. 7 of the 10 have bids! I haven't seen this since the holiday season. The scarey part is that 6 of the 7 are by the same bidder. The only thing I can think of is that on my auctions I have a note that says I combine shipping. The highest bidder has no negs with a good amount of positives and has been registered, (locations USA) for about a year. Maybe I can relax. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Relax Paloma, it sounds like a good thing.
They have good feeback, probably means they are sincere. You can check and see what else they are bidding on using advance search.

Once every month or so I have the same thing happen. One bidder bids on most of my items. So far so good, no problems with them yet. Some have turned into repeat customers even.

LtRay, Thanks. I just checked their recent bids. Looks iike they have been bidding on the same kinds of things from other buyers AND buying up whatever they sell. HUMMMM Maybe there is a reason to smile. I will still be skeptical until I see the money

Mike, It's good to know what you've experienced. Maybe this will turn out ok. I am still holding my breath. Last time I listed and had any bids, all but one bidder was a NPB. One was really nasty. It took me from December 'til a week ago to resolve.

I forgot to add. Of the buyers that I have had buy multiple items from me before when I asked them why they bought as many as they did they said it was because I combined shipping. I know I myself am more likely to bid on a sellers items if I can buy a couple of thing's at the same time and have them combined for shipping. It can really save a buyer alot of money on the shipping charges if he or she can get items from one seller. From the sound of it your bidder has good feedback so I wouldn't loose any sleep over it yet.

If I stumble across a postcard listing at a good price, I usually check to see if they combine shipping, then view and raid the seller's other items. With postcards, shipping adds significantly to the price so I rarely buy just one item from a seller, especially if they have underpriced their cards or had bad photos (see other thread).

I had that happen once as well. It was fine and the bidder has returned a few times as well. I call it smart shopping as shipping can kill you as we all know. This is the best way to save on shipping.

Paloma ... Don't worry! Whenever I find an auction that I like, I check to see what they have in their store and other items up for auction. I almost always purchase/bid on several items if they combine shipping. I did get smart though after getting zonked a few times and started to ask how much it would cost to ship them all PRIOR to bidding/buying. Sometimes combined shipping ain't so combined.

It's starting. He has won 3 items so far. It looks like the bidder lives approx 20 miles from me. I hope he doesn't try to pick them up. Too much of a hastle. I'd rather ship them.

I don't think anyone has ever posted an idea like this before. If buyer lives locally and wants to pick something up, why not charge a "pick up" fee? You have to wait for the person to show up, meet them in person etc etc. Would it work? Probably not. Ok, I guess i am just stressing

Any time someone wants to pick something up I charge a pickup fee and I meet them somewhere that is mutual.

We have one regular buyer who lives about 45 miles from us and he always picks up his stuff. He 'shops' thru our eBay auctions until he buys around $150 worth. We let him come pick them up because he always buys more once he gets here. Most times that $150 order ends up being a $400 order.

We don't charge him a pickup fee because he's a regular and we don't have to deal with packing and shipping it. Plus he always pays cash.

I don't think this bidder should be charged a pickup fee - is that the thanks he gets for bidding on all your sales? Heck if it's hard to package or he bought enough from me, I'd give him a discount!

I met one of my buyers of a HUGE pair of lamps at a rest stop off the New Jersey Turnpike so I wouldn't have to pack these monsters - I was in the area and we made plans to meet - it worked out wonderfully and I gave him a small discount for not having them shipped - probably would have been about $20 in packaging supplies at least.

Because of the laws in my town I can not have people come to my house and also because of insurance. I have to go meet the person some place and I would rather just ship it because of the hassle of setting up a time and meeting that person. That is why I tell them there will be a pickup fee. If I had a store front I would do anything to entice them into the store including a discount. That is marketing 101.

I have a local customer that I deliver to. She lives about a mile away and 2 blocks away from my favorite thrift store. She does not even have to be home as she live in a really nice area.
I also delivered a coffee table a few weeks ago to another local customer. I was so happy not to have to pack it, I was happy to do it.

I delivered for free 125 miles from me. LOL of course I was headed that way anyway. My customer bought 3 items that could not be shipped together size wise and shipping was about $15.00 each. which they would have paid but when I found out where they lived and I was to be in town anyway that weekend I emailed and they met me. Super nice people wanted to pay me extra and I didn't take it guess I should have but was not out of my way in time or anything.

Hmmm. A lot of you folks seem to be awfully paranoid about good news, bad news, no news. Same with delivery, pick up etc. After all, if you put a classified in your local paper, would you let the buyer pick up at your house? Of course you would. If you're having a yard sale, does it take place in your garage? I don't see much difference.

I tend to gang similar items when I have them ... ie. quilts, lighting, doll parts, so it's certainly not unexpected that some bidders like more than one item, especially if they can be shipped together (not always possible, but generally works).

I'm delighted to meet my buyers, some of whom make "ebay piles" and then pick up at one of the shows I do. I've driven to deliver horribly cumbersome and fragile chandeliers and was thrilled to do so. And I've delivered furniture for friends who sell on line as well. One customer even bought me a delightful lunch in addition to paying the delivery charge (several states away but on my way).

If he is 20 miles away write him and tell him you are on your way to get your money one way or another. Joking -- but might be fun to see what the jerk looks like take his picture and post it but that is a law suit waiting to happen. Neg him. Hum wonder if it would get ya kicked off ebay to sell deadbeat bidders names. Another joke.
