I heard a rumor that DHL would only ship up to 108" total dimensions ground - over that has to go 2nd day which will change the average shipment from under $50 to over $300??
I did a rate quote from there website just now and it still allowed over 108" to go ground. But now I don't trust it.

Well that's just great. I just got off the phone with the DHL rep and you are correct. No more DHL Ground packages over 108 inch's as of April 1st. DHL will still handle them but it will no longer be the DHL Express division, it will now be DHL Danzas division. And from what I can see on the www.us.danzas.com website IT SUCKS!!! I can't see where I can create a account, create a shipping label, anything. You even have to request a shipping quote, no online calculator. This really has me hopping mad. You would think these SOB's could have told us they were changing.

Just Great. After reading all the good feedback about DHL here, I just switched to them for all my shipments over 5 lbs. Unfortunately, a lot of my packages will not fall within the 108" size limit.

I was hoping the rumor was wrong as well Mike. FedEx goes to 130" or something like that but DHL used to take up to 165" wasn't it. It was the only way to get door to door at a reasonable rate. Oh well

Mike - you realize that you have a month right? And that not only do you have a month, but that DHL/Danzas has a month to update their site. Maybe you should contact them and make the suggestion. You might find out that those types of changes are in the works since from the looks of it - at this point, Danzas is strictly an international shipping method.

Oh, I'm not dumping DHL yet. I was pissed yesterday when I first heard of this but have cooled down a little since. The DHL Express rep told me yesterday the reason they were transfering their Ground shipment's over 108" to DHL Danzas was that they are more set up for doing large heavy packages. The Danzas division is the freight division of their company. DHL Danzas also offers door to door service. I will have to investigate a little more and see how the changeover will be and what the cost through Danzas will be.
