I just purchased a movie on Ebay from a seller whose feedback is kept private.
The illustrated picture taped to the clamshell looks like a copy of the original, the dvd itself has the title of the movie and nothing else, and the movie is of poor quality.
Is this against the law?To burn your own dvd and then sell it?
How should I handle this-report her to FBI,ask for refund,or complain to Ebay?
See with a private feedback,no one will know until it is too late.

Have you noticed the WARNING FBI notices that come up everytime you play a video? Yes, it is against the law. Who you should report it to is your choice - how much did you spend and how much time do you want to expend to this new hobby? I'd rather spend the few moments at the front of the transaction to check feedback - there are plenty of video dealers - I'd rather pay a little more and deal with the ones with great feedback scores. I've had great luck so far - much cheaper than buying locally.

If you bought this from someone in the USA I would think you could get them into real trouble by reporting them direct to the movie company plus anyone else associated with that little warning on 99.9% if not all DVD movies. If that seller does not refund your money and shipping report them to Ebay, movie company, if paid with paypal you can do chargeback bla bla bla. But you might want to see what a real DVD of that Title really looks like first before doing all the reporting to whoever it is you report bootlegs to. Sorry I don't know who all that may be but I would think it would stir up a little poopy for seller by going to extremes if that is what you wish to do. Me I would chalk it up to buyer beware and report only to Ebay and try to get my money back if it is worth it OR and this is main part--according to what kind of response I get back from seller. If they are non responsive and or nasty yep going to make it difficult on them for sure if possible...

You will not enjoy this article I found and don't know how true this stuff is but here ya go.paypal & bootleg

Found this at ebay

There are lots of links to look at by looking for report bootleg DVD at google. Must be a rampant problem.
