www.delcampe.com Delcampe has been very active in Europe for postcards and stamps and has recently rolled out for US viewers. I 've noticed that one of the largest eBay postcard sellers (SCVIEW) has moved some of their better cards over there with respectable prices (unlike other postcard auction sites)- I think their strategy is that discriminating buyers will search off eBay for the hard-to-find-cards and others will follow.

Looks like it could be worth a try. I have not sold any philatelic items on ebay in quite some time. It just seemed to get to a point that it was flooded with junk stamps that were making it hard for buyers to find items. I might just have to dig out some early US issues and stick them on this site and give them a try.
Thanks for the heads up pix!

Pixi: I've looked at all the links on that site allowed to non-registered members. It seems promising. But nowhere do I see auction lengths offered, or what delcampe gets as a commission. Do you have any info on that? And can we post photos with our auctions?
Somebody here needs to be our guinea pig and try it out!

They charge 4% final value fee and no listing fees. You can also specify an option on who will pay the fee - buyer or seller, You can have up to 3 photos for free. Duration 7 days and you can set it for 999 automatic renewals. You specify auction or fixed price, extra fee for having a reserve price. I haven't checked into the stores yet - they seem reasonable with a small single annual fee plus the 4% final value fee. They are more flexible that eBay in acceptable payment options.

I forgot to add: the philosophy of at least one large US postcard seller is to get the stock in before bringing the customers over. He plans to put on 20,000 cards, then advertise in select print media for serious collectors postcard magazines, etc. Guess what - Delcampe will reimburse your advertising costs out of your previous month's fees!

If many of the ebay postcard and stamp sellers went to the same place (and this does seem to be better than anywhere else besides ebay) then it would stand to reason the buyers will leave ebay and go there too.

I wish the venue was US based but do believe that SCview (father and two sons) may be on to something. There advertising in Post Card Collector etc would help any of us that move stock over. If another large US dealer like Jim White (qrsv) would join it could drive others over there and bring in more buyers. I guess its a wait and see

I spent a some time going through their site map page and a good many of the related links and it looks like a pretty good deal to me. Here's some key points quoted from their help pages.
http://www.delcampe.com/page/sitemap/language,E.html
(Fee's depend on amount sold per month, so the more you sell the less you pay in %)
http://www.delcampe.com/page/help/type,prices,language,E.html#t0030
"Commissions on sold items.
Each month, we calculate all the successful sales of each member. Depending on the total amount, we ask for a 2 to 4% commission."
They do have a bulk listing tool.

Their Ad refund policy.

My god, they actually have a phone number for support (Intl long distance but still, it's a phone number). Plus a fax number and mailing address.

I think this site just might be worth giving a shot. It's nice that it is a item specific site.

Re Playles : look at the average selling prices there and few items sold...just doesn't appeal to me at all. I like the Delcampe layout much better!

I have an increasing number of great cards that were sold once on eBay but were refunded or never paid for and never relisted. I call it my 'did I mess up or did they mess up?' pile. I'm hesitant to relist them on eBay but think I'll put them up as a test with Delcampe. If they sold on eBay, can I get a similar price on Delcampe?
