I am at my wit's end (and lately that's not too far). I can't get in to ebay - no way, no how. Vendio works fine...I was able to SEE the forums through a bookmarked link but now I can't even get that far. I have tried both Firefox AND IE...I scanned for spyware with two different spyware detectors and am in the process of scanning with Housecall. I turned off pc and even unplugged it...any other ideas?

No issues on System Announcements. I have OK access, probably I'm on a working server.

I think it's my pc somehow. I can't even follow the link to read the announcement about the listing sale - just times out.

I got it by unplugging computer and the internet modem and router.

PS: did vendio make a change so that spell checker is always enabled (I am seeing it here and also in the listing box)?

How did you post here? Are you waiting a long time for the page to load? &&&&& What kind of internet service provider do you use? dialup? DSL? Where do you live?-State, maybe there is a problem in your area that they are not getting on the backbone of the internet. If you have any friends in your area call them and ask if they have internet access and how they are running if simular to yours. If there is no problems in your area(call your ISP) then it might be something in your PC , if you have a modem maybe it is going out, Maybe your internet settings got goffed up, all sorts of things could cause what you are describing but find out first if someone on same service is having problems too before monkeying with the PC. Plus go to a site that is not like ebay maybe even vendio. Try a site that does not take too long to load like www.google.com or your own servers website. If other sites are working like normal then it may be something along the ping stops to the sites you are having problems with. There is a thing called ping & traceroute that will tell you where your internet connection is timing out at but that may not help you but would tell you if the problem is local or at a location way off from you.. Hate to even bring that up if you don't know much about PCs but you could do that if problem does not clear up. Here is a link if you want to learn more about those 2 things.[url-http://www.more.net/technical/pingtrace.html]ping/trace[/url]

I am thinking your best bet is to call your ISP first to see if there is problem they might be aware of. Most ISPs have tech support and can talk you through a lot of checks you can do. OH I think Vendio is out in same area as Ebay so problem may be along your internet connections along the way from your house to California. If these 2 sites are only ones acting up your PC is not at fault--most likely.

Irked - I got it fixed for the time being. I could get everywhere on the internet EXCEPT ebay. I have had lots of trouble recently and I think it has something to do with my daughter's internet use conflicting with mine on our wireless network. She has her own laptop but has used my main computer too and things have been screwy ever since she came home at xmas time. One problem could be that AOL (or Instant Messenger) tries to reset the internet connection. Not sure what face book does but I think it's suspect too. Oh well...better get used to it. She is home to do student teaching and will stay until she finds a job etc etc

You may be right it is a social network place for college students. Probably something on line of like myspace. There are always hazzards of places where you are free to post things that could harm other PC or opens a port to hacking but don't know if this is a place like that or not.

It is just a shame there are people out there that put things on websites to harm or hack into another's PC but it is a fact of life and you really have to be careful places you go on internet.

I was having intermitent trouble with my PC and it all stemmed from my son using my PC to go to Myspace I think. Now he has his own laptop and I don't have the problems anymore on my PC. Thank goodness.

Good luck.

Neglus: Sorry for your trouble. Be careful with the stuff that your daughter puts on your computer.

If you have time, read the post I did about one of your postcards showing up on my Closed listings area.

Good luck!
