I sold her a Majorica pearl necklace on a sterling silver chain. Here's an email I just got from her:

HI, I just wanted to let you know that you misrepresented your majorical necklace. Your listing says it is a "sterling silver" pearl necklace and when I received it in the mail, it was gold. If I had know that, I would not have purhased it. I plan to leave you the appropriate feedback. Thanks.

Is she kidding me? I'd have to be a total nut to sell GOLD as Sterling Silver at a SS price. Gold is worth more. I'm scratching my head here. The chain was marked .925 and Majorica. The ad clearly stated that the chain is very tarnished. It was an OLD necklace in the original box. Her feedback is private. I think eBay should eliminate private feedback especially since as sellers we have no other way to judge a buyer. No more private feedback buyers for me!

No private fb's for me either. When I see someone has bid on my item(s) and their fb is private "poof" goes the bid. I cancel immediately. Although the longer this farce with no negs or neutrals for buyers goes on the less difference it will make as far as judging bidders.

I have a bidder from China with private feedback, but there is no neg!
He bought 7 items from me,total 475 dollars and I shipped USPS priority mail, insured the whole amount with U-PIC,he bought more and I shipped.
Then he told me one out of 7 was broken,so I filed insurance with U-PIC and I told him it would take weeks before we get a check from them,so be patient.
He sent picture of the broken item which he paid 41 dollars.
He left me good feedback on all but the broken items .
A few days ago he filed ITEM SIGNIFICANTLY NOT AS DESCRIBED with Paypal on 2 items, the 41 dollars item and another item worth 145 dollars.
Paypal wasted no time and locked up the entire 475 dollars.
Now before the dispute is escalated to get Paypal involved,we seller can choose to REFUND THE BUYER THE FULL AMOUNT.
Am I supposed to refund him $475 for one item which is 41 dollars?
And what about the second item,it was fine upon arrival and he left me postive feedback, now he said it is damaged?
Would U-PIC approve this item as damaged in transit after so many days have past?
Does he do this just to get more money back?
Has he done this before,is that why his feedback is private??
Without being able to warn anyone,he can keep doing this to other sellers?
Now $475 is locked up till july 9 if no one escalates this dispute to a higher level,if one of us do so,then it would be tied up for another month before Paypal gets around to look at the case.
And if I lose, would that 475 dollars be reversed back to him or would 41 or 187 be reversed?
there is a problem with Paypal and there is this problem with Ebay not being able to leave nuetral or negative and allowing bidders to keep their feedback private.

another NEUTRAL from a NEWBIE(11FB)....cause-Paypal none notification email(when the problem first started, BEFORE I started checking all sites)...gotta love it. 2009 EBAY LIVE probably would of only had 1,000 people at this rate...no wonder they cancelled it.

so?...do we post POSITIVES for these newbies and warn others they are NOT aware of the difference between NEUTRAL and NEGATIVE? Or just BBL them and move on?

I received 2 NEGS recently-one was from a buyer who emailed me 3 times and I emailed her back to the email addr she registered with Ebay.It turns out she seldom use that email addr?
The second one is from someone whom I shipped the wrong item, she spent 9.60 to return the item which I did not received and she failed to produce any proof she has shipped.
But I refunded her payment but not that 9.60 she spent on returing the item,so she NEG me.
Ebay is going to make us sellers feel like second, third class citizens.

I have a really dark foreboding about my eBay selling in the future. I'm very concerned about the new eBay page it appears they'll be foisting off on all of us. We're sellers, for cripes sake, and we need the freedom to present our items the way we want them presented.

I'm working hard to get lots listed and sold by June 30th so I don't have to wrestle with the $$ amount business for a little while. But that new page is horrible.

I admit I am evil but I would be sorely tempted to write her back. Something along the lines of...

"Dear agirligirl,

Thank you for letting me know you have my gold necklace. What a relief! I thought it was lost forever.

Please send it back as soon as possible so I can list it on eBay. It is easily worth five times what you paid for the sterling necklace as the gold ones are much more rare.

I will of course give you a full refund including shipping both ways.

I sincerely appreciate your honesty. A less honest buyer would have simply kept the gold necklace and been happy to have something so much more valuable than the necklace they actually paid for.

Thank you."

LOL, Zippy! That's a good one. I did email her and did thank her for letting me know that she has a more valuable necklace than I presented in the auction. I offered to have her send it back and I'd gladly refund plus shipping both ways. She got that necklace for a steal at $19.99! It's 1940's or earlier to boot. I never clean old jewelery. Perhaps she didn't read the part of the auction that stated it's really tarnished and needs to be cleaned.

I did make a mistake in the item specifics and listed it as gold, but she and I had already gone over that. I forgot to change it from the item I had listed before that one. I couldn't change it once she placed her bid. She even had me double check the marks, which I did!!!

It is also possible that there's a gold wash over the sterling. All I know is that the chain was marked 925.

Now,anyone who has listed on AMZN,and I did when I have a Zshop ,I listed non books and the item page is still the book format, one picture only and size cant be too big,so is Ebay going that route?
Of course we all know AMZN has one click payment and this is what every one has to use.

hwahwa - It certainly looks like eBay is trying to model itself after Amazon with all of the changes going on. They will never be Amazon. They're too degraded for that. They've attracted the worst kind of buyers (and sellers) and took too long to try to do anything about it. They continue to allow the sellers from China to rip buyers off and the rest of us are paying a heavy price for that.
