I shipped a package overseas using USPS Priority flat rate envelope with the green US Customs form.
I just found out that US customs number is trackable on USPS site and it shows it has arrived in that country.
Is this piece of information useful?Would Paypal accept it as proof of delivery??
thanks

I track international priority items online using the US customs # listed on my receipt. MY customs form is not green, it is white and is in triplicate and when I take it to the PO, one of the copies is attached to the side of the box.

My question is -
I used that green form on both first class and priority mail, but if it is a first class mail,it is not trackable, but if it is priority mail,it is.
Then my question is -is this piece of information good enough for Paypal seller protection?

According to the postal International site.

Tracking and Tracing International Shipping
Tracking:

USPS international tracking information is only available for Express Mail®
(including Global Express Guaranteed®™* and Global Express Mail™*).
If you ship USPS Global Express, it includes tracking and 100.00 insurance.
The US Postal Service does not offer Package tracking for Parcel Post, 2-3 Day Priority Mail,
International Mail, or APO Military Mail, but does offer a return receipt option on most international shipments.

So I don't know if Paypal will accept it as a tracking number. But once I had a claim against me in paypal from an International Buyer and I used the form number and listed that in the tracking area. Paypal didn't deny my proof.

They do not accept it - or at least they didn't in 2 cases I had against me for non receipt - you should not have been able to use the green form on a priority overseas item anyway, you need the white one.

For items I expect to sell for over $100, I have started using global express only for int'l - I had too many non-receipt claims for int'l shipments and was losing too much money. The other issue is with the customs number, they are not alway scanned or input along the way - it is hit or miss.

Now with only offering Global Express as an option, I get slammed for shipping cost - I'm considering eliminating international shipping completely.

Why cant I use the green form for USPS PRIORITY flat rate envelope? It is not that heavy ?
But it seems that the green customs form is only trackable if used with priority shipping and not first class shipping ?
I can see why Paypal does not accept customs form as tracking, all it said is that it arrives in the country at such date and time,it does not say which city ?

Use Google Checkout or an alternative payment provider to PayPal. Most do address verification and risk assessment before accepting the funds so (unlike with PayPal) sellers are at less risk of a chargeback due to INR or SNAD (since their database flags cardholders that do excessive an no. of chargebacks)...

Works for us and we do around 98% international sales.

Google checkout is great but ebay won't allow it. Ebay makes all the rules for those who follow...sellers have less options than ever and are slapped with big fees, limited selling choices, rules and more rules.

But Google check out has such a short history, there is no way its database has collected much chargeback history ?
Also the buyer can still go to his credit card issuer to do a chargeback.

Sorry, should have made it clear. Google Checkout and many payment providers use the Visa and MasterCard card issuer databases to weed out customers that have above average chargebacks or suspect report flags against them. It results in fewer sales, but more importantly reduces chargebacks and associated cost further down the line.

Paypal once had a short history as well. Any buyer regardless of the venue can do a chargeback with their card.
