Lstest copy of BW ,page 52 titles EBAY AUCTIONS,GOING GOING ...
It said first quarter auction sales slidded 6 % while fixed price grew 22%.
In the same quarter,58% of sales came from auctions and 42% came from fixed price.
As internet industry matures, people are not so fixated on auction style buying, they dont have time, they dont like being outbidded so they go online and buy instead of bid.
Some sellers do not like the new fee so they set up their own website and use the ebay fee they would have spent on marketing their site,eg emovieposter.com,his fee went from 120k to 180k on Ebay.
It also mentioned Buy,com and the design of the new page.
But the veteran poster seller said the eventually the auction that we know as Ebay will completely disappear!

But they lower the listing fee,I would rather pay a lower listing fee .
If the item sells,I dont mind paying a higher FVF,as long as I make enough to cover it.
Of course, those which sell have to make enough not just to cover its own fee but the fee of those which do not sell.
The article also mentions the sniping software, people are tired of bidding early and all week long they are the winner until someone snipe it last minutes.
I can understand how they feel, people dont have the time to sit and bid and bid again, those days are gone, they want the item and they would pay for it and know they win it.

Everything goes up these days,so Ebay is raising its fee.
I was looking for bleach the other day,it has always been 99 cents to 1.29 so I was shocked to find it at $3.29 ?
You have to find something which sells relatively well on Ebay and has a wide enough margin which will cover its own fees plus the listing fee of those which do not sell and still give you a profit?
and for some sellers, there is inventory carrying cost if they are using their credit cards to pay for those items.
hard to make a buck these days.
