A lady bought a few things from me and paid for them. Then she bought four more and decided she wasn't going to pay for them because shipping was too high.

Of course I filed UPI, she sent me sob story after sob story but no payment, and finally I got my FVF refund.

And she got NARU'd. Yes, dear friends, I was the third strike. I can't remember the last time this happened but it has been years.

Since eBay stepped up the war on sellers I'd almost forgotten that IF the stars align you can actually see a deadbeat get justice.

Sadly fewer sellers file UPI these days because the nogoodniks can just neg you with no recourse. But I got back this time, oh yes indeedy I did!

Her latest missive:

I know you hate me but if you knew me and you knew about my husbands medical problem I know you wouldn't be this hateful. I don't believe God put anyone on this Earth that would be that cold hearted. Anyway if you could put your feeling of hate for me aside for one minute and think of my little boy. He loves buying things on ebay and now that you don't want to work with me he is so upset the he can't buy his yu-gi-oh cards and his Naruto. I don't know if you know what those are, but they are cards that kids collect. Can you please for my son Chad consider working with me please. He is only 12 and can't understand how a person can be as hateful as you have been towards me. I don't know if you have kid but please for my son, not me, but for him can you consider. Please let me know.

What do you think? Should I relent? (Just kidding!)

At one time I might have had some heart and would have worked with such a bidder. NO MORE! I have gotten 2 negs from non paying bidders in the last two months. Got two more negs from a lady in Ireland whose package didn't get there in time for her party even though I shipped it two business days after she FINALLY paid. I have sold off and on for 9 years, currently have more outstanding payments in the last month than in all those 9 years. I think I am going to require immediate payment in the future as long as I am revising items for all the other nonsense around shipping, refunds, etc. Don't see any other way to protect myself.

So, I guess I wouldn't feel the least sorry for her, she probably doesn't even have a kid. Since she can't neg you, that would give me more motive to just move on!

BTW, could you actually change her situation at this point?

My two cents for what it's worth...

Fluffy, you're just being hateful. Shame on you for expecting to get paid when her husband is sick and her son wants his yugioh cards.

I love how it's somehow YOUR fault. I see this a lot lately, although I'm sure it has always existed.

If she's been NARU'd, how on earth could you allow her to continue bidding on your items! Sounds like a dim bulb. She could get a neighbor or friend to order things for her son, I suppose, but then they'd be responsible for her bad debts.

Pitiful....just pitiful. And I thought my life was tough. Thanks, Fluff, for the new perspective. Made my day =)

It's her responsibility to worry about her son and as we can see she didn't give it any thought. Does she think she can just bid and not pay? umm I guess she does cause she did it.

I'm sure this happened to her before since your strike was the one that ended her thoughtless bidding. So she does know how the system works.

I always file for my fees and if they don't pay I give them a strike, guess when they really don't want to pay they don't respond to the NPB form so that makes it where they can't leave you a neg once they get the strike.

Words of a broken hearted Buyer

Well guess what, Got has nothing to do with the way people act. Oh I get it now, with E-Bays new rules we are to give the buyers what ever they want while they neg us and ding our stars. God pit the ones trying to run a business, that's a real no no.

Oh, but Fluffy could remove the strike and forget about the unpaid items and that would allow the non-paying buyer to become active again. But I know she is smart enough not to do that.

Turn off the violins - what a bunch of carp - for one - no self-respecting 12 year old collects Yu-Gi-Oh -- that is definitely for the 7 year olds. Every family goes through crisis - compulsive shopping for things they can't pay for appears to be a "quick fix" for many. I usually don't file NPB for FVF's for small amounts out of sheer laziness. Now that my profit margins have narrowed and the options for warning other sellers have been eliminated, I will rethink my position.
