UPS - well Chris said we can't use any @*@(&@ anymore so I won't go there.
Anyway - I was expecting 2 packages yesterday from UPS. One from Sierra Trading Post and one from eBay. Normal delivery time is about 3 pm. Came and went. Looked up the tracking numbers online and it showed "delivered at front door". Huh?
Called UPS. They said "delivered at front door". I said no it's not. I have 2 yorkies, gated entrance, home all day, no delivery. She said you'll have to call the companies and tell them you didn't receive the package.
I argue with her - fruitless right? To me - this is a UPS problem not the company problem. UPS says they will not attempt to find out what happened to the package until I contact the company and the start a trace on the package. I gave up and called Sierra and she said "Oh UPS won't do anything - this happens all the time, we'll send you another one".
5:00 pm rolls around and the neighbor next door comes home and my packages are on their doorstep. Thank goodness it was that neighbor and not the neighbor on the other side.
Last time the UPS driver dropped something off he was yammering on his cell phone the whole time.
I called back and told them I wanted to file a complaint. I didn't really want to get the driver in trouble but they made me mad when they just wrote it off as saying it shows "delivered" and it wasn't.

My neighbor gets deliveries all the time. No porch, half the time they leave it on the doorstep - rain or shine. Another time they received a BRAND NEW DVD player from one of the department stores...wasn't the right address...UPS told them to keep it.

I had Fed-ex leave a package from Ralph Lauren by my fence, end of the driveway, where my mailbox is on a rural highway 1/4 mile from my house.
The package showed: left at front door.
It was Christmas and a relief driver running late.

I had UPS deliver a $500 Crystal Chandelier during a hurricane to an evacuated area and to the wrong house. They returned all the money including shipping but the customer was miserable - she knew she paid about 1/3 of the value.

On the other hand, I had a UPS driver try to deliver 6 boxes to my office. I had closed early. He went across the street to the Police Office, called me and asked if I could come down. I live three mins from town.
I came down, took delivery (they were a day early, he saw them and thought he would just go ahead and deliver them to me), and tipped him.

Beth: Do you always tip the drivers? I never have done that. . . . But I give the guy cookies or something at Christmas.
Our village UPS driver is wonderful; he'll track one of us down in our "downtown" area if he spots one of our vehicles parked somewhere. One time he came into the beauty shop where I'd gone for a haircut, and another time he drove behind me and honked for me to stop. Great guy.
