Remember when we use to get lots of watchers and if we were lucky we got one bid or maybe no bids. We use to get annoyed when ebay started the watch list.
Well, now it would make me feel good to see watchers, because then I would at least know my auctions are being seen in the search.

I still say that if eBay would SHOW PUBLICLY the watchers(not their IDs, but just the # of watchers) ... we would get more bids.
But again, unless you start your $100 item at 99¢, you usually don't get the bids until the last 7 seconds.

Doesn't the number of lookers show up on the counter at the bottom of the listing? Not necessarily the number who may have bookmarked an auction but it does give some indication as to how many people have dropped by the auction.

I like ebay best before the watchlist function when people whould actually place bids prior to 15 seconds before the auctions ended.

I'm with you Toni - it now makes me happy to know that someone is watching and I'm not on page 2000 of the search.

I've casually mentioned the number of watchers when answering questions before then posted the question to the auction page. Something to the effect of - by the way, you may want to bid early, as I noticed I have 57 watchers for this item and there may be alot of last minute activity.
A few months ago, I had an item with 87 watchers - and not ONE bid in the last 2 hours of the sale. Makes me wonder if there was a search issue or Ebay was slow - but of course there was nothing on the message board.
