I'm hoping Turbolister will allow me to find and replace verbage in my description of 5,000 listings that says I will accept money orders and personal checks. I'm considering a simple "deleted because of eBay policy change" for each substitution instead of something more elegant. How are others planning to handle this?

I'm planning to sell everything I have currently listed before the end of the year so I won't have a problem. I think that's the best plan - don't you?

ladyjewels, That won't work. The new policy goes into effect at the end of October. Any items that have not been changed will be canceled and you will have to change them before they can be renewed

oldscrazy - I was being a bit facetious, but I do believe I read somewhere that they wouldn't pull listing until the first of the year.

I got a call from eBay last week or the week before. eBay ed to know what questions I had blah blah about all the changes. I did ask about the PAYPAL ONLY and I was told by "Kim" that it will not go into effect until Jan. 15th

From Ira Steiner, Auctionbytes:

"eBay also reminded sellers of other changes on the way:

* Starting October 1st and through the end of the year, sellers will get a free Subtitle listing upgrade, and eligible PowerSellers will get double their Final Value Fee discounts for items sold with free shipping.
* By October 5th, make sure your first domestic shipping option in your Books, Movies & DVDs, Music and Video Games listings is within the new maximum charges.
* On October 20th, our paperless payments policy will begin, and checks and money orders will no longer be allowed as payment methods.
* Also by late October, you'll need to specify your handling time and return policy in your listings.

I figured out where the confusion about the mention of checks and money orders lies on the seller checklist for new practices:

"By Late October:

Remove checks and money orders from the "Payment Details" section"

"Coming in 2009:

Remove the following from your item descriptions (more details to come):
E-mail addresses
All references to checks and money orders."

October is just for the Payment section, January is for within the item description.

I believe that eBay said that the payment details would be automatically taken care of by them as long as Paypal was already selected as one of the options.
Does anyone else recall this?

By the way, I also plan on selling all my older items before January to avoid a total makeover. Really!

Pixiamom,

Export from TL to a csv file, import into Excel and make changes there, transfer back to TL and synch.
