Hi, Tom and Ralphie! Thanks for the link. Hope you are both doing great. Ike is here now and although the winds are only 60mph, this old house here has been shaking and rattling all day. We were in the upper 80's today and will be in the 60's tomorrow. We may not get the brunt of hurricanes, but it seems like they all must find there way to NE Ohio.

Thank you for the information! We use Pedigree canned and Nature's Recipe dry - after switching from Beneful, which just has too many junk ingredients - another important note on dog food is Nutro Max has had some serious problems - I bought some for my guys (4 Boxers) and researched the ingredients - luckily before I gave it to them - check out the following link - and there's still NO RECALL:

I just got back from our central Ohio log cabin and the winds were fierce! We lost power and had to fire the generator up to have water and fridge (out in the country the water does not work unless you figure out how to power the pump). We did not have any damage to the house but lost quite a few limbs. My cousins next door lost some big trees but they are O.K. too. Cheryl, I hope you came out of the winds O.K., they don't expect to get power back to some areas for 5-7 days in central Ohio.

Thanks for the warnings. I have been using Nutro max for my cats for about 20 years, I use to breed Himalayans. My cat Buddy doesn't seem to be having problems at the moment, but I'm going out to buy him something different tomorrow and throw the Nutro max away. I have used it so long, I am not sure what would be a good alternative I can buy in Canada.

All is fine here now. It's cool and calm today. There were some trees down and power outages. Some schools were closed today. It was fierce yesterday!!

Pmelcher - Glad you came through it okay and that your cabin is intact!

amber, I would say Nutro Max is OK, it's not on the list that Tom posted.

Tomwii, How are you and Ralphie doing? Hope you both are well.

I read the web page and did some searching. Found a lot of very scary stuff about Nurto. We have fed our Lacy only Nutro for years. If you believe some of the web sites all of Nurto food has become toxic in a big way. There are dozens of "Nutro killed my dog" stories on line. Of course the internet is full of wild conspiracy theories so I don't accept everything I read. The Nutro site says all the suspect food has been tested and there is nothing wrong with it.

We buy the dry food in 40 lb. bags and need to buy a new one soon. What to do?

McJane, but it is on this list that carolinetyler sent ealier.
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/pets/nutro.html in the message earlier sent. It's hard to know. I bought a bag in the new packaging in August, and I have seen no ill effects to my cat, but I don't want to take chances.
