For my "handling time" I have listed 2 BUSINESS DAYS. This what is posted on my item that recently sold on the NEW Ebay page.

"Your payment for this item cleared on Jun 20, 2009. Please ship this item by Jun 22, 2009."

Um, isn't 6/20 a Saturday and 6/21 a Sunday?? Are Sat and Sun now considered "business days" in the new Ebay calendar?? Or is a matter of Ebay MATH, not being able to add 2 to any #!

merrie,
I would contact Customer Service and start by asking them:

a) what day is it?
b) what is your name?
c) Who is the President?
d) Who is the Prime Minister of Canada?

Chances are they won't be able to answer at least one of them!

Seriously though, that is awful. I don't even give mine a second glance as it just really irritates me (I am cleaning up the language here!) to have eBay, of all Companies, tell us when to ship and how to service our customers!

I just purchased a part for my truck today from a seller that lists 2 days on his auctions. I contacted him before I bid and he said it would be shipped Monday. He told me he lists 2 days in case someone buys after hours on Saturday since he can't mail untill Monday.

I was afraid 2 days ment he might not ship untill Wednesday and I would not have purchased it from him since I need the part before next weekend.

I list my auctions as next day shipping and figure people know I won't be shipping on Sunday but maybe eBay doesn't know that.

I generally ship the next day, but when Ebay required a handling time be stated, I picked 2 BUSINESS DAYS. Those are their words, not mine. Saturday and Sunday are NOT business days. I will probably get the items in the mail tomorrow, but my point is that EBAY should know the difference between the weekend and business days if they need to dictate every aspect of our transactions.

If someone needs an item PDQ, I will make every effort to accommodate them, but EBAY should not be providing false information. (Oh, who am I kidding!!)

Wow, I remember when I used to take vacations during the holidays (traveling on Christmas and New Years Day is dirt cheap). I would put in my listings that "payments not received by December 22nd, wouldn't be shipped until Jan 3rd". I wonder how that will float.

Not to mention this situation... What happens when the buyer takes two weeks to pay? My schedule the week after my listing is wide open to ship their item, but the following week I may be on the road, I may be working, I may be on vacation. Why should I have to ship within 2 days if my schedule is now different?

Whatever happened to shipping it within a week? I very rarely took that long, but there were situations that I couldn't avoid that required me to ship something a week later.

For example: Someone buys a huge painting or other unusually sized item. I may have to special order the box, but I won't buy a $20-30 specialty box until I know the buyer has paid. Sometimes that box takes 3-4 days to arrive. Sometimes I can't get to the box store for a day or two.

It seems to me that ebay has become a "business" sellers only market. So much for the general consumer. I kind of fall under both categories. One account I sell for my store, and the other account I occassionally list for myself.

shagmidmod: You do not have to specify a handling time of 2 Business days, you have a choice. You have to pick a handling time, but they can be 2, 3,up to 20 BUSINESS DAYS. It is a pull down, you get to pick the # of days, but they all say BUSINESS DAYS and my buyer paid on Sat and my notice said I should ship on Mon which is not 2 BUSINESS DAYS.

I think sellers are no longer allowed to travel or count weekends as none business days.
We must ship items immediately even if buyer takes two weeks to pay. We cannot post any negative feedback although a buyer does not pay or post unfair negatives to us. We cannot breathe a word about money orders.
We should offer free shipping so our items can be seen. Also, take returns after the buyer finishes using them.

Are we still self employed????? I think not.

Of course I am just kidding ....... I guess

This is all so very irritating to me. I always try to ship the next day but part of being self employed is freedom to do other things if needed or wanted.
I state I ship in 3 days for small items and 4 or 5 days for larger items. That way if I ship sooner they will be pleased.
I guess that could hurt my sells if they need it right now but oh well - I'm just doing what ebay is forcing me to do.
