I have been trying for a week to list a bracelet. Kept getting that "item cannot be modified or relisted" error. Checked payment method, transit time, everything. No joy.
Today, in exasperation, I started at the top of the auction and changed each word, one by one. The winning combination was when I changed
Sterling silver multicolor crystal mesh bracelet
to
Sterling silver multicolor beaded mesh bracelet
Apparently eBay has a filter that blocks listings that include the phrase "crystal mesh." Okay, crystal meth I can understand, but are these people so poorly educated they can't even spell it right?
Just another gem from the Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight.

maybe it wasn't the "crystal mesh", but only the word "crystal". I had this happen to me one time, though it was a one word brand name.
I couldn't list anything with "Nike" on it for a month. I had a buyer who received their item, and on the 46th day emailed me to say the item I sold him was a fake. I explained to him it was genuine and was purchased at the local Nike store just a mile from my house. I also said he could return it if it was in the same condition as shipped. He apparently complained to eBay, and ebay blocked my use of the word "Nike" along with sending me an email about his complaint. I emailed and called eBay explaining that it was Nike and even then still offered to accept the return if he sent it back in "New" condition with the tags attached. I also mentioned it was now 46 days past the day he received the item. Ebay insisted it had nothing to do with him... but his complaint stayed on my account for the full duration, he never returned the item to me, never bothered to follow up, nothing. I was the one punished for someone falsifying their claim and I have been selling on ebay for 8 years with thousands of transactions and a 99.9% rating. Go figure.
Over the next few months I am going to focus on my website and selling items there instead of ebay. The only problem I have is that this works great for my business, but not for my personal account where I sell a variety of things from clothing to electronics.

Michael, you are a bad bad boy.
I'm not surprised about the ivory thing. Now that the word "diamond" can only be used to refer to a hard crystalline chunk of carbon instead of the many other meanings of diamond, we should have seen this coming.
So, how DO you describe a diamond that is 1) a baseball diamond or 2) a five of diamonds or 3) a shape with four straight sides of equal length where the opposite angles are the same, but none of the angles is equal to 90 degrees?
Do those eBay idiots ever stop to think or are they afraid they might not be able to start again?
