I just spoke to my credit card issuer of my MC card,he said per MC policy,a customer can return the item with tracking number irregardless of seller return policy, irregardless of what PAYPAL has to say.
I did not ask what is Visa 's policy.

Have you checked the user agreement to your card? It should be stated there too.

I will say that most people don't go this route. It is often too much hassle to dispute through a credit card unless it was a fraudulent purchase.

Mastercard may do a chargeback as part of their user agreements, but it doesn't mean the buyer isn't still responsible for payment.

We have our credit card receipt (for in-store purchases) that reads, "No Returns or Exchanges". Once the buyer signs that, they are agreeing to that.

Sure, Mastercard can always do a chargeback, but ultimately the buyer is still responsible for payment of the item. A seller can sue the buyer and if they have proof that the buyer agreed to the terms of sale and reversed the charges. the buyer is responsible to accept the item if they agreed to it as is with no returns.

Now thats interesting, brick and mortar stores do have that policy-no return,no exchange and is printed on the cc receipt.
The credit card issuer will issue a temporary refund to the credit cardholder, but that does not mean it cant take it back if it cannot recover it from the merchant.
Years ago I have a problem with a local merchant,my credit card issuer said even if you return the item, you need a statement from the store acknowledging receipt of the item before we can debit the merchant and refund your payment.
As the local merchant refuses to issue such statement,my credit card issuer gave me a partial credit out of its own coffer and I have to go to small claims court.

I doubt the store is going to take the buyer to court,if it is a local store serving locals,it is bad publicity.

You would be surprised how many buyers file chargeback with their credit card issuers, these days before they make payment via paypal, they empty their paypal balance first so they can use their cc ,just in case they lose a paypal dispute.

I would consider our receipt a "deterrent" more than final. I have taken returns in the past, especially if they are a good customer.

I have declined refunds in the past for bad customers. Examples include the couple who wanted to return a table that they purchased. This was a very high end teak Danish table that would convert from a coffee table, extend leaves out from the side to make it bigger and then rise to the height of a dining table.

I demonstrated this to them several times without a single problem. After they purchased it I helped them load it into their vehicle. I told them that they could possibly damage it if they transported it the way they wanted to... AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, their 3 year old daughter sitting next to it could be hurt. Did they listen??? No.

A week later, they called and said the table was broken and wanted a refund. Hmmm... did they listen???

I had another customer who purchased something and when they got it home, they said it looked terrible with their other furniture. I was more than willing to take a return on it.
